I'm not sure if it was a confirmed thing or not, but I've been hearing that the new characters were made to combat the defensive meta, and to make players turtle less, but the way these two characters are set up, it does the exact opposite of that. The amount of CC and stamina drains they have make it so if you open on them and they land a solid parry, you get combo'd down and then left with no stamina, and then they no stam punish you until you recover it all again, or you screw up, and go back to 0 stam, repeat process.
All this forces players to play more defensively. Waiting only for the Centurion and Shinobi to screw up to do anything.
They're top characters for sure, rivaling Warlord and Warden, but they do nothing to the turtling meta other than make it more prominent.
You must be jk.....the shinobi has 90 ho lets say you play Kensei 1 light atack = 15 dmg so if you spamm 7-8 light atacks while you doge his kick or gb and a heavy he is dead
and the centurion he is slow as hell and its ez to doge his kick and even the unblockable that he charges afther all you people need to do is find a guy that has the dlc caracters and ask hem to help you practice the moves if you play 10 custom matches against hem you will ghet used to it this game is all about muscle memory...
i even added this redit topic that no one gives a ****... all they did is cry

Um.. That's great and all but I'm not talking about some shinobi opening up with kick. I'm talking about how much punish they have off a single parry, or a small slip up if you go on the offensive, forcing players to play more defensively and hope the enemy cent/shin mess up. Using your example with the kick, opening up like that, basically telegraphing, the defensive player dodges and punishes, then goes back to being defensive. So I guess thanks for proving my point?Originally Posted by CV_Eviler Go to original post
The new caracters ir ment to be faced head on NOT w8 for them to slip up and do something wrong do you even read what im saying ??? The shinobi if you atack hem head on he will try to back away the more he dashes around you you can eather guard break hem or spam light atacks at hem or gb hem if he is doing the range one just coz he has kick and dash if he abuses it alot he will run out of stamina and he will be dead same with the centurion you can doge all he has if he cant connect a hit on you he is useles...but if you w8 for hem to atack you the will **** you up coz he will ghet a kick or gb in at some point just go crazy on them and they will lose ....i dont even know why i bother explaining it since people will still same the same old ****...3 days in the they cry the new caracters ir op... IF i do the range atack or GB with the shinobi and you do a light atack at the same time my atack will go past you and nothing will happen did you know that ?? no i bet you dont coz you didnt test anything all you did was say nop cant do anything about the new caracters....they ir to op just trash them ubisoft so i can spamm light atacks in peace and maybe kill 1-2 noob's...
Mate, I'm calling on your ******** from now on. Since I know you know how to upload videos to here, post one of you shredding through some shinobis. Some of the stuff you post simply isn't true either. You cant attack through his ranged attacks. If he misses or attempts a guardbreak, then you can punish. If you attempt to guardbreaks them, you will catch kicks to the face or lights. A competent shinobi will dash just out of range and throw out a kick. The kick has hyper armor so you can't attack it head on. Im seeing better shinobis and centurions lately in duels. You can't attack shinobi head on. Not a good one atleast. They only engage in a fight when they want to. I'm talking about duels in this sense.
I bolded the part of your alphabet soup that makes me believe either you do not understand what this thread is about, or you are doing some weird 'arguing the same point but sounding like against it at the same time' thing.Originally Posted by CV_Eviler Go to original post
I'm not saying sit there and take it, I'm literally saying the same things as the bolded parts. These characters do not make players play more aggressively to combat them, they force players to play more defensively. Ergo, dodge the kick and punish, gb when the shinobi teleports, counter guard break when they try to do a ranged attack. All inputs in response to the Centurion and Shinobi going on the offensive. It's the same sort of strategy a berserker player has to implement against a seasoned warlord.
Not once did I say they were overpowered, I said quite clearly that they are on the same level as Warlord and Warden, and from my understanding, Ubisoft wants all characters to be on their level, however, with the complaints about the defensive meta creating a slow pace, and making a lot of fights boring, these two new characters do not help with that at all.
Most of the newer changes aren't meant to directly address the defensive meta. Ever since the defensive meta started forming after launch and players started to make us aware of it, the development team has been working to produce a patch that will directly address it. No concrete specifics just yet on a release, but we'll hopefully have more news to share on it soon.
