    Those look like those experimental dazzle paintschemes based from those painted on ships. I've seen pics of a P-51 in a similar scheme which was supposed to confuse enemy flyers. I didn't think this scheme was ever used operationally.

    It wasnt used - the corresponding pilot uniform was a pair of Sam Snead golf pants and a paisley shirt.. paisley was after all a government experiment (ask Tim Leary)..

    The resultant nausea and vertigo suffered by pilots and ground crew just outweighed the schemes' usefullness as cammoflage.

    That can happen during texturing if the skin is applied incorrectly. That's obviously what happened here!

    PAINTED HORSES:
    North American P-51
    This Mustang was painted in an attempt to see the effects on visual sightings. The bottom was also painted in black/white angular markings, but the pattern shown on the bottom of the wings here is totally speculative. All upper surfaces were in normal O.
