The Centurion on his own i.e just one of them is manageable but that's now where the issue lies, the problem with the Centurion is in Group matches, his introduction has completely unbalanced the team play dynamic, its basically the team with the most Centurion Gank squads that wins, simple as that, it has nothing to do with skill or "Gitting Gud", if your getting ganked by 2 or more Centurions then your done, You cant block, Revenge wont make any difference, skill is utterly irrelevant, unless your one of the fast classes and can runaway before you are disabled (which wont win you any games) then your toast, its just the continuous spam, UB Kick , UB jab, fall down leaping stab, your powerless to respond, the screen grays out, your stunned with no stamina, your just along for the ride as they take turns spamming their unblockables, no other character completely and utterly negates blocking and renders the revenge mechanic completely useless in such a way,
Maybe that was the intention that Ubisoft had in mind?, remember all those videos doing the rounds of people triggering revenge and beating whole teams? do any of those exist where the player is being treated to the Centurion Gankfest?
if Ubisoft fail to find a way to balance this Character in group match settings then the Centurion will continue to proliferate and it s soon going to be Team Centurion vs Team Centurion only, after all the long list of patches buffing and nerfing original characters with the stated aim of balancing the game, the introduction of the Centurion and to a lesser extent the Shinobi seems like a very strange tactic?
You can't afford any mistakes against a Cent, once he's got you, he brings your health down to a sliver and no stamina left, and then he gets to do it all over again. That, in general, is the bit that makes him OP in regards to the other classes.
"Just dodge"? Well, that's nice, he gets a legitimate softfeint into GB, and the time to differentiate between parry, dodge or cgb is ridiculously small. Besides, there are only a few characters with a dodge-attack that actually dodges the attack and cannot be GB'ed. For the rest it's a guessing game, and if I guess wrong, well, see above.
"Git gud"? Sure, but how is it balanced that if I mess up once, I'm near death, and if he messes up he loses at most one bar?
I'm a reasonably aggressive player, but I have to turtle against Centurions and to a lesser extent Shinobi's. How's that working out to beat the defensive meta?
I fully realize he's a new character and I need time and practice to learn to counter him, but these two new characters have stuff in their kit that far outstrips what any of the other classes are able to counter at the moment. So either EVERYONE ELSE needs to be buffed, or they need to be taken down a notch or two.
You make a good point on parrying his heavies, since there is no consistent amount of time between his hit and the parry you most of the time parry way too early.
