Things I have learned playing the shinobi

I am not going to argue if the class is overpowered or underpowered, my position on it is that we will only know this after everyone has had the new characters for a couple of weeks, this and I still consider myself a peacekeeper main, but here are a few things I have picked up from playing him.

I keep reading a lot about the dodge kick the shinobi has and how it is 400ms reaction time. If a shinobi is dodging towards you, he has something in mind, bear in mind that he will not win a toe to toe fight with his health and also bear in mind that he has zero options after a single dodge. While the reaction time between disappearing and the kick may be 400 ms, what you should be reacting to is the first dodge that is needed to initiate the double dodge. The shinobi can also have the kick shut down with an attack. Seriously, the centurion with a non charged attack, so short range, did this to me. Now sometimes he will dodge to the side then front or vice versa which changes the angle or he will do nothing after the dodge, consider it shinobi feinting, but if you are watching, you will learn when he is about to come at you with that kick.

People have complained about the range, but one thing that I am fairly confident in is that the attacks do not track, a dodge will avoid them, if they are going for a guardbreak, there is a visual effect which enables you, after time, to tell the difference. The further away he is, the easier it is to dodge, also the easier he is to parry or cbg, and remember that either a parry or cgb on the charged heavy will make him fall over for a punish.

The main problem people have right now is he is a turtle breaker, same with the centurion, and I love them both for it, people can no longer be passive when they meet these because that plays into their hands, I hope the changes Ubisoft have planned enable other heroes to open people up.

Like I said, I don't know if he is overpowered or underpowered, I have read so many threads arguing both, what I think is he can do potentially a lot of damage but he pays for it heavily in being squishy, he is a standard glass cannon, a round of duel or a matchup in dominion can potentially end very quickly ending in either result, and hopefully this helps some people struggling to deal with him.

That was their intention I believe, Roman said he is someone who is very technical and you need to learn the full kit. He has an attack chain with an amazing damage potential if you hit all of it, i was kind of shocked. The spider silk whip chains into forward roll crush chains into sickle rain. Hit all of that and you have taken most of their lifebar. Of course if the heavy gets parried, there goes your own life bar, glass cannon to the extreme. You really have to pick your moments and pick your battles in 4v4.

After enough Dominions, where I assume they are used by people who are just getting the grasp of it; what I see is that people are learning how to exploit it pretty fast.

First of all he people who do NOTHING but long range charge > do nothing > run away when you try to engage are a real annoyance, since there is literally no way to catch and kill them; and they know it so they just wait for you to disengage from them and face someone else. Not OP but annoying as *** and should not have been in the game. Nobushi is the way long range characters should be, what we have with Shinobi does not fit this game.

Now lets talk about exploits people already mastered. You cant track them, but well they are ninjas so I get it.. They just run around/double dash around till they know they offscreen and then do the range GB. I dont know if it is lag, or its GB window is really intended to be so small; but it is so far seems to be impossible to be CGB if they are offscreen so you dont see the animation. And what they get out of that is just way too much. This is exploit one.

Exploit 2: they team up with a centurion and all they do is run away, then sweep under your feet or kick from offscreen. I know on paper it is not any worse than a WL,Raider/Conq doing their charge but keeping those in view range and tracking them is not hard, with shinobi if you are also fighting someone else it becomes an impossible task to keep track of their offscreen presence.

In 1v1 I dont think shibobi is OP at all. Worst case is they will force a draw by never letting me catch them. I know all engagements happening under their own terms is a HUGE plus, but can leave with that I guess. But the way they function in Dominion is way too exploitable.

Also bear in mind this, the people playing shinobi and centurion have a basic but temporary advantage that is nothing to do with the kit. They know their character;s mixups and they have fought your character for the last three months, they know your tricks, you do not yet know theirs. This will even out over time.

Oh I know their tricks; Centurion GB near wall = you are dead.

I tested it out several times, even an assassin can not dodge out of that Charged Heavy/Jab wall stagger combo. It keeps going until they run out of stamina, which is somewhere between 90 damage to .. well you max hit point as conq (as per personal experience). There is nothing to learn about that apart from the fact that every wall is practically a ledge for centurions.

Also if they manage to land the initial lunge, you are done. What happens afterwards is apparently guaranteed. And while it is completely easy to avoid the lunge, it does not justify how much they get out of a single catch.

And that is the problem. What they get in return for a successful execution of <insert tactic> is WAAAAY MORE rewarding then old rooster (except WL ledge carry maybe, but everyone considered that to be broken OP anyway). Can be beaten? Sure! Is it balanced? Nope!

You mean you don't enjoy playing against a character that punishes your slightest mistake by removing 50-75% of your hp and all your stamina?

And if he makes a single mistake he loses the same amount of health, like I said, glass cannon.
