Seriously youre going to call +100ms to an execution an actual nerf? You need to go back and check your facts. Besides that absolutely minimal change, he has not been touched once (buff or nerf) in quite a while. Does he need something different? sure plenty of guys need small buffs or nerfs. But its nothing to drastic that needs to be addressed immediately. Kensei is at or close to bottom tier, but besides top level game play, tiers mean absolutely nothing.Originally Posted by Kitsune.. 100 ms of execution - well, I'd call it an unhealthy attention.Originally Posted by Blasto95 Go to original post
Does he need something different? He surely does. Not gonna go into walls of text for 100501 time, everything has been written on this forum, on /f/CompetitiveForHonor, on /r/ForHonor even though that place is all about memes only... devs do not care about the stuff they've already sold. The worse the old heroes are the sooner you'll buy the new ones.
I didnt see an explanation for the increased execution time. But I could imagine it had something along the lines to deal with how the execution looked within that time frame. That small change could make a big difference on the visual look of the execution. Only reason to nerf the time would be because it was already the best or one of the best executions. If it was not, then there would be zero reason to consider it a nerf. You consider it a nerf, I consider it a buff since he gains more health from the execution.Originally Posted by Kitsune.. Im pretty sure(or hope) Ubisoft is putting more focus onto server stability and ranked mode like they said they would. They gave Raider the only meaningful change (besides another PK nerf) because people were absolutely begging for a buff. Besides from Kensei being irrelevant at top level play, there is nothing wrong with him. Small changes are needed to encourage high level play. Thats it. Not a single hero in the game is that bad that they are simply ignored across all skill levels.
Kensei sucks at any level of play where people know how to block. If you are playing at a level where people are struggling to block or parry his dash attacks, I understand why you might think kensei is okay. But the majority of players are playing at a level where people can block most attacks, that is why you see so much griping about his uselessness.Originally Posted by Blasto95 Go to original post

Between beta end and launch they lowered his movement speed, dash speed, & dash recovery. Notice he is the slowest sprinter in the game, sans Shugoki. These were the stealth nerfs FAIK, not the second heavy off Swift Strike change. That they announced in a beta patch note but never got around to implementing until after launch.
His health was buffed in beta because initially he only had 5 HP more than an assassin. They added another 10 HP, still significantly lower than the other Vanguards.
They did increase the potency of some of his light attacks in beta: Helm Splitter, Swift Strike, and his second light (light finishers are still garbage, & second light is still the 'get Parried' option).
And they did that because he was underperforming. Ubi wasn't immediately aware of the turtle meta, Kensei was the canary in the coal mine that brought it to light.
Valkyrie was more pressing hero in need of attention post launch, Lawbringer I'm convinced they took on first because he was the most popular of the underperforming characters. Berzerker got IMO half what they need out of the buff they got. Raider's changes were more a fix than a outright buff. PK isn't given any attention thanks to light & zone cancel spam of the community and that's going to linger I'm afraid.
They have to keep doing what they did with LB and Valk, go over with a fine comb the move-set, one hero at a time, of all combo-oriented heros. They can dream otherwise of some magic turtle-meta broad stroke solution, but it doesn't exist (not without destroying the premise of an advanced melee brawl gameplay, turning FH into a UI/UB/UP spam fest like we see with the flood of Centurions right now).
I know its really hard to imagine...but even Pros can make mistakes. Sypher will throw out raw heavies with his Warlord because people mess up the parry or dont parry thinking its a light attack. By what you said...any decent player would block/parry that every time so I guess Sypher does not play decent competition then...Originally Posted by dekot11 Go to original post
Just because a hero is not the best, does not make him garbage or useless or irrelevant. It just makes him more challenging. And I didnt say Kensei was ok. I said he needs minor changes to encourage high level play. Not a straight up buff to health and hp like he already had once. He needs a rework to some of his abilities. One small change could change an entire playstyle of a hero. Just look at what they did with Shugoki. Cry for buffs all you want, these changes have to be made carefully. Id rather a bad kensei than a broken one.
nobody even made any suggestions here, what are you talking about? I think most people would be happy if his dash attacks were safe on block or if his second light would be sped up a little. more health won't do anything, and I haven't seen many people suggest those types of buffs.Originally Posted by Blasto95 Go to original post
No one made a suggestion of increased health or damage. He already received that buff during beta or at release.Originally Posted by dekot11 Go to original post
As a kensei main, I think he is in a fairly okay spot. He's not top tier and probably never will be, but i think he's the most underrated of the trash tier characters. Someone else mentioned his extremely slow sprint speed which is one thing that has bothered me since the beginning of time. I don't see how a kensei in light wooden armor can get chased down by lawbringers in full platemail carrying 10 foot poleaxes! It makes no sense.
If they want to fix kensei, they should start there. I don't want to see ubisoft start dishing out uninterruptible, unblockable, unparryable, and almost undodgeable attacks to everyone in the game. I don't even think they should exist in the first place. The fact that the two new dlc classes are totally dependent on them is extremely worrying.
