Kapkan shouldn't be a three armor character

Disclaimer: This is my opinion on the matter. It's ok if your opinion doesn't match mine. This is to spark discussion and get people thinking.

With traps in this game, there are two ways in which they work: Unexpected or when rushed. This is the case with frost's traps, and even nitro cells if you use them as a trap. With both frost and nitro cells, most characters have at least two speed, which lets them place their traps down around most of the map if they wish. This allows them to place them in places where the enemy might be forced to rush through near the round ending, or where the enemy won't expect it, and get them earlier on in the round. Kapkan, unfortunately, is a three armor and one speed character, which makes it hard to him to move around the maps (especially bigger ones like bank) and set up his traps before the round starts. Thus, he can place traps where people might have to rush into the objective room at the last second, but he has trouble getting them in places that are unexpected where the enemy has their guard down ex.outside doors and areas on different floors. I think by changing him to a two armor two speed character, it would make his ability much more viable and he would overall feel better.

Before anyone says, "Kapkan's traps are meant to slow, not kill" they aren't. It literally takes two seconds to shoot the trap and move on. Frost's traps are more meant to slow than his, considering her's make them have to get a teammate and get them back up. Barbed wire, castle doors, and regular barricades all slow enemies more than Kapkan's traps. This means if Kapkan's traps were just meant to slow, then there would be no point in using him, as any other operator could do it better.

Kapkan traps are not meant to kill.
The hint is in the name: Entry Denial Device. That's why it isn't called Entry Torso Removal Device
"it takes 2 seconds to shoot them"
The idea is to place it in a position that the attackers will think twice about peeking. Say for example there is a tight angle and a wide angle on a doorframe; place the device facing the tight angle. It's not rocket science. Look at the door frame, think about which angle you wouldn't want to shoot the device out from, place it facing that angle.
You might get the occasional kill from shields walking into them or maybe even a Leeroy Jeankins. But really there isn't many places you can put them which would catch out even the noobiest of noobs.

However I am inclined to agree, I would like Kapkan to be a 2 speed, but look at the size of the bastard. Easily one of the henchest operators. It wouldn't be explicable.
Here's my resolve: make the Spetnaz recruit on both teams a 2 speed... no, make that a 3 speed. Just so I can sprint around with the GLORIOUS SASG-12

I understand how to place them on doors so that the attackers have difficulty shooting them, and I don't know why you assumed I didn't. The problem is this is only applicable to two to three spots on each map, if even that. And even when they are placed there, that adds maybe a second or two to the time of slowing them down. Again, I would much rather use barbed wire, which many operators have, to slow them down, than kapkan's traps. Even if kapkan's traps were meant to slow (which in my opinion they weren't) that doesn't mean you should be able to use them to their full potential and get kills with them. The best way to achieve this is to catch them when they feel safe ie. at the opposite end of the map where kapkan has trouble getting to without wasting half the round. Since you decided to argue using the name of the device, the description for it reads, "Sets booby traps on windows and door frames". The game even calls it a trap, and what use is a trap that isn't meant to be sprung.

Try setting up a murderhole facing the angle the opposition will have to peek to shoot the device out. That's a pretty neat trap.
Or place it higher on a doorframe and lay prone guarding the angle (their gun will obscure their view of you).
It's still a trap in and of itself as a device, sure; but you'd have to be a total boob to fall for it... unless you are Mon'taint, that is understandable.

Overall, trying to rely on the device's potential to kill by itself is a very inefficient use of this gadget.

I'm not saying I rely just on the device to kill them, I get what you are saying by distract them with the trap and then kill them yourself, I just feel like he would work better overall if he could get around the map better. Those techniques you described could also work farther away from the objective, if you so desired. The only problem with them is that you can only do that on one at a time, so the other traps would go to waste, and you might as well try to catch someone unaware with those ones.

They are meant to be around the site though. Maybe take 1 away from the site and put it near some red light/carpet. My usual Kapkan play is plant all 3 EDDs in/around site and try to catch people breaching with the GLORIOUS SASG-12 and C4. Leave holding the angles to people carrying SMGs.

I think both of our play styles are valid ways to run Kapkan. I personally think that he would be better with better speed, but he is still useful if you use him in a way that makes sense to you.
