I've spent a lot of time thinking about feints and how ineffective this core mechanic is by itself, sure you can feint then GB in an attempt to punish them on start up but this isn't consistent and can sometimes lead to you eating a heavy attack, and then it dawned on me.
why is it heavy attacks and parrying done with the same button?
you should have had it so that parrying is done with light attacks, which cannot be feinted, couple this with a moderate chip damage increase and boom "what defensive meta", but alas this is something that should have been considered while developing the game, i'm not sure if you can make a change this large without drastically breaking a ton of other mechanics
just something to consider

Unless I've misinterpreted your message, they aren't done with same button? At least on Xbox, to parry you press RT at the right moment and to feint an attack you press B right after the heavy. Two different buttons.
They have said that button mapping is coming (even though consoles already have it) so this might resolve this issue if you are a PC player
That's certainly an interesting suggestion, nyrue. While I can't speak to the developers direct intent for using heavy attacks for parrying, I believe the sentiment behind it was that if a defender improperly timed his parry, the length of proceeding heavy attack would be punishable by the attacker. There are changes coming to chip damage in the near future, as well as direct changes to address the defense meta. We hope to have more details on that in the future to share with everyone.Originally Posted by nyrue Go to original post
I believe what he means is that in order to feint, you have to start a heavy attack and, in order to parry you have to, use the heavy attack button while guarding in the correct direction.Originally Posted by ChampionRuby50g Go to original post
yeah that's what I meant sorry I was in a hurry when I posted this, and while I don't expect them to make any changes to the game based on this suggestion it is my hope in future games (for honor 2) they take this suggestion under consideration, and I am delighted to hear they are seriously looking at chip damage
Parry in ds is not on reaction ( unless 1h UGS), and for honor should be a reaction based game, won't work at all. And parry is not a problem by itself, the problem is what you can have if you parry a hit.Originally Posted by SkilledxxLoser Go to original post
