For whatever stupid reason, my xbox 360 controller no longer works with this game.

I can hit the A button to get past the first screen, but once I get into the main menus, it disables all controls to access everything.

This was working not that long ago, why is this broken now? I'm not going to play until I have it working again, so I hope there is some solution or a fix for this rather soon.
