I appreciate the OPost, it is a concern that defense meta broadstroke change could turn this game into a spamfest bumper-car simulator.

But I think everyone has encountered at least one fight where your opponent literally never attacks .

It's this that I think they need to address. We have stamina as an offensive resource mechanic, we need a defensive resource mechanic to even the keel. IMO just look at other fighter games. Block attacks for too long without attacking yourself, suffer a dizzy debuff that leaves you vulnerable. Block too many attacks for too long, lose the ability to block. If attacking prevents these debuffs, then there's incentive to be the aggressor as well as the defender.

3 easy steps to fix the defensive meta

    1. increase base chip damage on heavy attacks moderately
I also believe base chip damage needs to be altered on a case by case basis not all heavies are the same speed and therefore should not do the same chip damage

    2. make it harder to feint after a failed parry, this can be done easily by narrowing the input window on heavy cancels to the starting frames of an attack, and it should be note changing the input window does not mean making feints less convincing, i'm only suggesting changing the input

    3. further increase chip damage too out of stamina opponents, so that wardens and other bash characters are not the only ones who benefit from draining there opponents stamina, and you cannot just turtle up even harder when you run out of stamina

these three steps are in my opinion the least invasive and best way to fix the defensive meta
