Greetings
I've been a knight guy since the first day and I made all my knight +p8 and now I am trying new heroes. Even though I play this game for fun I don't like getting rekt on 1v1. So after oni charge nerf thing which was the best nerf happened to this game this exploit was so stupid I feel like shugoki is kinda weak unless he lands a Demon Embrace or some cheese. Maybe the high level shugoki players I play against was so used to exploit oni charge they literally don't know how to fight at this game. and that is why I feel like easy victory when I see a shugoki.
So my question is not to whiney people who cant even block shugoki side light but to the people who knows how to play basics of this game and to shugoki players. What do you think about shugoki atm. Is that hero can stand against high tier classes like lb, warden, warlord even though they are not bad players. Or is he just a perfect ganker and a bad player hunter on 1v1?
In my opinion he stills one of the top tier characters of the game, if not the best one. His hyper armour, defense and insane dmg gives him a huge advantage in all situations. Not to mention his hability to oneshot you, ofcourse. The way i see it, every character that can oneshot you in a fighting game with one move, is a game breaker no matter how hard is to pull it.
I got a rep 7 Shugoki and since the Nerf I found the best way to use him is try to predict when your opponent is going to attack and power through it with your Superarmor, He will win most of the time if you can carefully time your Heavys. So with his armor and sumo grab I think he's at least A class.
His Stamina is bad, leaving him little to feint with.
He cannot open turtles. He is shutdown hard VS kids who just defend defend defend. His opening light is very easy to parry once you've seen it enough. Doesn't have a safe attack from idle (post Oni Charge nerf).
He cannot cancel a fully charged Heavy Attack. Other than GB > Throw > Full charge heavy, Shug doesn't have a lot of advantages against exhausted opponents (post Oni Charge nerf), which is odd since Stamina damage is one of his better features.
The soft-feint Heavy-to-Demon's Embrace isn't a very good fake out (he switches to DE before he even gets his club into a swing motion).
His armor makes him really good though against people who don't know how to handle it. But that armor is compensating for a lot of shortcomings in his kit. Some are deliberate (like Stamina), and some are not.
