I thought each season would bring a new mode and this season it being the mode ''qonquest''?

They said they are looking at new modes, but nothing has ever been promised to my knowledge.

In the following video they say "free updates involving new gameplay modes, starting with ranked and tournament."
Due to the issues they are having those modes got pushed back, well at least the ranked did and I am sure that's the same reason for tournament mode.
