Do people who buy season passes have the right...

...to be upset at the publisher when they don't enjoy the content?

Imagine if you went to your favorite restaurant of all time and they said, "you can order the items you like and pay just for them, or you can pay a little extra right now and we'll pick things we know you will like."

It's your favorite restaurant and you want to support their business so you decide to pay ahead. They bring you a big juicy hamburger and you love it and want more. But the restaurant doesn't bring you another burger, they bring you dessert. They didn't know you are on a low-sugar diet and just wanted more of your meal.

But all the other restaurants are selling desserts and making a lot of money doing it, so the restaurant thought they would have to do the same to stay in business.

You protest that they should have known you only wanted more hamburgers because you've always eaten hamburgers and love them so much! Why would they think you wanted a piece of cake with all of its sugar and sweetness, and it isn't like the burger at all?!

You threaten to leave and never come back and you go to their facebook page and yelp and write bad reviews so others won't go to the restaurant.

Does anyone think you are behaving reasonably?

Maybe Narco Road is the worst DLC ever, and doesn't fit the spirit of Ghost Recon at all, but do Nazi Zombies fit the spirit of a game about a real and terrifying war where people lost their lives? Did Blood Dragons fit the spirit of a game about a bunch of tourists being hunted down and murdered by a psychopath? Did Yeti hunting fit the spirit of a game about a crazed dictator who went over the edge after losing his wife and daughter? Did blasting slave traders with a blunderbuss fit the spirit of a game about the treacherous life of a pirate?

Sometimes the crazy DLC is the one that goes viral BECAUSE it clashes with it's source material, not in spite of.

simple answer is yes. we do have the right to be upset at the developer. We paid for GHOST RECON not bloody GTA.
How would you like it if you went to Mcdonalds, ordered a BIG MAC and when you got home it was KFC?

Yes, you have the right to not enjoy the content.

What you don't is to protest about the type of content offered after you paid for a content that was sold as advertised.

Most people here protested Narco Road isn't Ghost Recon, yet they still pre-ordered Gold Edition or purchased Season Pass after Ubisoft advertised how Narco Road would be like.

That's like seeing an advertisement about Fish Fillet burger, purchased said product, and then protest why it's using Fish instead of Beef.

Yeah, they do have the right to be upset, but that's as far as it will go. You chose to spend your money on a season pass before you had any idea what the product was going to be like. Given the history of not only Ubisoft, but other AAA companies, when it comes to pre-ordering and season passes, we know the likelihood of their product being a disappointment is usually going to be very likely (Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed, The Crew, SW: Battlefront by EA, Aliens: Colonial Marines, etc). Despite having this knowledge, people still decided to trust Ubisoft and give them money in advance for a product that wasn't finished yet; a promise, not a contract. There's no purpose to preordering a game anymore. Once, when games were only physical copies, people would preorder so they would be able to obtain the game the night it was released. As soon as gaming went digital, companies realized there was no way to ensure the customer would ever want to preorder again, hence the preorder bonus crap, which later devolved into the mess we have today with the industry.

If you're aware of the previous controversies had by AAA companies with their games, and you continue to preorder, or purchase a season pass, you do so at your own risk. I do, however, sympathize with season pass holders. I expected the DLC to be sub-par, but holy crap Narco Roads was terrible.

Don't ****ing pre-order season passes for unknown content, simple as that. You can still support the developer by buying a season pass once the (first) content is released and is to your liking. I can't phantom why you would ever buy a season pass upfront, it's not like they can go out of stock or something. Pre-ordering it is a gamble and a risk you take.

    Short answer: Yes
    Long answer: Yes
But if you pre ordered or bought the season pass before playing the released game, not the beta, you are an idiot and deserve your pain. That goes for any AAA game, not just Ubisoft

If the consumer wants to force change, refrain from buying season passes.

lol all the food analogies are making me hungry

I hear what your saying and agree to some extent the issue is you haven't paid for a specific meal you paid for a banquet meal that could have a number of different meals to choose from and you take what you want. You don't try everything and then complain about it.

Would you keep going back for the same banquet if you really liked the majority of the items on offer - yes you would. The point is not everything is going to appeal to everyone it just cant be done

"You can please some of the people some the time, but not all of the people all of the time"

Don't get me wrong Im not a fan of the Narco Road DLC - I played it I finished it and I thought the ide was good, and there were some missions that were quiet good to play, but on the whole felt let down.

So I wont be eating that dish from the Banquet again, lets try the next meal or continue consuming the part of the meal we like.

No. Because there was clear information about DLC content before game release. GTA style of Narco Road was easy predictable according to it.
