Overall performance after patch 3 and 3.5

Hey guys, just wondering if I'm the only one whose performance got worse after patch 3 and 3.5.

    My list:

    1. CPU and GPU Usage is VERY high
    2. freezes of 1-2 seconds
    3. rarely freezes of 5+ sec
    4. textures slowly loading after i quickly turn around
    5. more bugs
    6. high Ram usage and leak

The problem is not on my end because after Patch 2 everything was alright, but those 2 patches changed it completely. Anyone else noticed that?

Rig: i5 2500K OC, GTX 970 OC, 8 GB Ram

I just finished Narco Road, was decent performance but now I went back to the base game to do some challenges and I'm getting fps drops like mad...from 60-30 all over the place...

I'm wondering if a clean install of the game might help? Since patching and or adding the Narco Road may have altered files?

I seemed to be OK on 3, but when I went to 3.5 my FPS went into the crapper, like 20-30 FPS average. I ended up lowering the resolution/video specs way down to make it playable again. But then did some more troubleshooting and realized my 1070 CPU was not being taxed but my i5 was showing all 4 CPUs pegged. Did a lot of the suggestions on this forum with no luck and after some research was surprised that the i5 was just not big enough to keep up so I replaced it with a XEON I had laying around (I know how that sounds) and was able to go back to the NVIDIA optimized settings which are very high and the game is now able to push 50+ FPS (my observation not calculated) and is enjoyable again. Even now all 8 (4 physical) cores are running hot on that XEON, it's being taxed but seems to be keeping up. Point is your CPU just might not be enough for this beast. Still sucks that the changes they are making are putting more stress on the CPU seems to me it should be the other way around.

    Before:
    i5-4460
    16GB RAM
    GTX 1070 SC

    After:
    XEON E3-1231V3
    16GB RAM
    GTX 1070 SC

    Same here

I'm struggling with the same issue. Before as well as after the patch.

Frequent freezes, persisting about half a second, & FPS drops down to ~25. This is a horrible "user experience".
Every other game runs totally fine.

Tried every possible combination of video/graphic settings, even several clean installs (even OS), BIOS changes, Nvidia settings, etc..

And then there are even several other minor bugs.

    I'm almost begging for support!
    Please...

    Hey SquirrelOne.

I'm also having issues with random drops in FPS, to around 40-45 ish - it happens totally random places in the game, and otherwise i'm running at 62-78 FPS.

I solved my problem, by lowering the following options in "Graphics":
    Draw Distance : V-high
    Level of Detail : V-high
    Shadow Quality : V-high
    Terrain Quality : V-high
    Vegetation Quality : V-high

-the rest is set to maximum setting and 1080p.

Now i'm running at around 80-100 FPS, and when the dips occur, it reaches around 70 FPS at it's lowest.

Though pretty stupid, considering I have an MSI 1080 TI Gaming X, and run all other games at around 100 FPS on ULTRA! They really need to fix the performance of this game!

Before Patch 3.5, I would average 55-63 frames per second.

Now, I average around 38-52 frames per second.

I have finished the game twice before the patch and frame rate drop, and I use a GTX 1070.

As of now with the jumpy frame rate, it's pretty hard to aim at long distances. @_@

    Thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately this workaround helps with the FPS drops only, but the freezes persist.

Glad it helped a bit - although it is (as you said), a temp workaround

I would try putting the game on a secondary drive, if it's installed on your main - preferably an SSD.

Btw, try messing around with the "Resolution scale" under the "Video" settings.
I raised mine from 1.0 to 1.3, and that improved the look of the game a bit (without much penalty in forms of FPS)

Thanks a lot for those advices, unfortunately I won't get rid of those freezes anyway.
Had GRW installed on a 2nd SATA-SSD (840 Evo), now on the primary drive, a NVMe-SSD (960 Evo), but no difference.

    You are welcome

Yeah, lets hope they fix the performance issues soon.
It's a shame, that they made such an awesome game, but lack skills in the optimization department

EDIT: In time, they eventually did fix Assasins Creed: Unity - so there is a small chance, that we will see the same happen here
