I and maybe some or more others feel cheated. I didn't even get any exclusive rewards for my faction. Or even just 1 character. Now I like to 100% games. For me getting a game to completion is very satisfying. Now I can never do that. I was expecting to be able to but the exclusive rewards. I had 200 dollars ready to spend for the whatever exclusive rewards were. But of course I can't even get the ones for MY faction. I don't care about the others but just because I don't play often because of computer issues and no one on my team participates means i dont get 12 ornaments let alone 4? For those who are equally frustrated I have a few ideas to solve this. (Aka Ubi Atoning for your sins)
1.) Give 1st winner all ornaments, 2nd and 3rd both get their stuff for their own faction.
2.) 1st winner gets all ornaments, 2nd gets their factions and a choice of two others from differing factions, 3rd gets their factions.
3.) Make a ticket system. You save up tickets from winning matches or completing orders or something productive. Maybe even winning ranked? Each 1st winner faction gets 12 tickets. 2nd gets 6. 3rd gets 4. These can be saved and kept. Tickets will be used to redeem ornaments or prizes from faction wars. These are not faction based. (Meaning you can choose a prize from any faction)
4.) Just let us buy them with currency. Release dates ahead of time so people can prepare.
5.) Just ignore this.
6.) [Thanks to Sykoink] Random ornament drop boxes.Similar to event overwatch boxes. (I'm guessing)
7.) [Thanks to Potatoserver825] Base rewards on individual performance.
Any feedback would be appreciated especially from a mod or dev. Thanks for your time and if you have any thing to say comment down below. May you have the best of luck in the Next Faction War, Samurai, Vikings.
If you have any other ideas for solutions post them below, I will read them. If there good I'll add them to the list.
I understand where you are coming from but i still think that making these rewards exclusive to the winning faction is a good thing. The season takes a pretty long time to complete and you and your faction know that you have something worth fighting for so you keep on fighting and get the highest scores in game and keep on deploying these assets hoping you can contribute a lot to your faction to finally get those exclusive rewards. It would be pretty disappointing to find out that the thing you fought so hard for to win, is also available to everyone for some steel to buy. That kind of takes away the ''competitive'' feeling of it. So number 4 in your post, for me, is not something i would see happen.Originally Posted by Berserker175 Go to original post
I'm pretty happy with how they did it in Season 1 but i wouldn't be mad if changes were made like you are suggesting that if you end up in 3rd or 2nd place with your faction that you still get a couple of rewards one way or another. Just a couple of scavenger crates after such a long period of a faction war is kind of disappointing too. Or maybe give out the same crates but make them random faction ornament crates or something, so you can open the crates and have a chance at getting random ornaments for your faction/all factions (just an idea).
I think that another possible solution is to reward players based on their individual performance as well. Say the top 10% of the losing factions players qualify for the rewards as well. It won't guarantee that every completionist will get them but at least it gives us a better chance. I'm seeing a lot of Vikings complaining that they don't like the ornaments anyways so it would seem more fitting to award them a massive amount of steel and champ status and releasing the ornaments for everyone so they could buy them if they wanted them or not. I think if they had to do an exclusive then they should've just gave out a symbol or color (maybe a gold colorway) that shows you won the season, ornaments are just too important or valued to be blocked.
The season rewards are horrible, to be frank. They go against the very reason for having seasons in the first place - which is to keep people actively interested and playing over the life of the product. Seasons aren't ranked mode, they're not a measure of how great a player you are, so having 'winner-takes-all' rewards is completely out of place. People aren't logging into seasons to prove how great they are - they're logging in to get exclusive stuff, and when they put all that effort in and don't get anything - they lose interest in logging in.
Furthermore, because they give winners the exclusive gear for all factions instead of just their own, they're virtually eliminating the point for choosing a faction in the first place. With that kind of reward setup there's no benefit to faction loyalty - and we'll likely see dedicated players slowly migrate to a single faction (over a couple seasons) that essentially always wins because it has the bulk of dedicated players that still play and allocate war assets. If Vikings win season 2, everyone still seriously playing this game (and interested in the rewards) will go viking for season 3.
Season rewards should be participation based, period. Break it into tiers, and have rewards based on how much you participated. If you played enough, and manually allocated enough points, you get all the ornaments for you faction. The 'winner' of the war gets bragging rights, the gold border, maybe a healthy cache of steel and crates to boot. With those changes you'd have a season that actually serves a purpose - people are logging in and playing lots of matches so they get participation credit and their faction rewards... players migrate around to different factions during season end to get the other faction rewards... nobody is getting pissed off and quitting the game because they sunk countless hours into the war and their faction lost for reasons completely outside of their own control.
This is all that really needs to be said.Originally Posted by GamerErrant Go to original post
Personally I think vikings should've only received ornaments for viking characters. That way from now on people will join the faction they play the most and we'd get some actual faction allegiance stuff going on.
Missed opportunity sadly.
That's just bad design. This is a game, you shouldn't be giving people incentives to play parts of it, you should be making those parts fun so players do it because they want to.Originally Posted by UbiNoty Go to original post
