Greetings, my honorable Kensei senpai and sensei.
As far, as LB is kinda a blocking god now, I have a question: what am I as a Kensei supposed to do with him? I haven't tried anything tbh, just sitting here with that nasty error, but I'm kinda lost a bit and cannot understand how am I supposed to play against someone, whose main task now is just to block me... I would really appreciate any ideas on what I should be aiming for in my encounters vs an LB.
And cheeeesus, I'm so f*cking mad about this sh1t, all our talks about how to ruin turtle meta are being flushed into toilet by such crappy and cheap balance decisions. Like we are talking to ourselves here![]()
Theoretically yes unless it is a turtle, which becomes more and more common with the LB. He actually has the tools to fight really aggressively now but people quickly notice that it is just that much easier to block everything or deflect it and only use the shove on a failed attack on your part. Noticed that several times yesterday when duelling LBs with my Kensei. They never opened up with a shove. They only used it when they blocked me or deflected me and by then you have no means to dodge the shove anymore. They can rinse and repeat that with top lights (which are basically guaranteed).Originally Posted by Kitsune.. Go to original post
Feinting and sidestep-light are the only weapons you can apply and feinting is risky because they don't react after a while and you keep depleting your stamina. It is just honestly a bad match-up to fight against a defensive LB since the Kensei has nothing that he can initiate with to open up a turtle. GB soft feints are absolute *** because that is an exploit and not even intended to work. I hate this ****. It's eventually going to get patched away, too.
At the highest level of competition, the use of bugs and glitches is pretty much standard. Everyone is capable of using them so it ends up being relatively even. I'm not saying people should use them, but, competitively speaking, anything that gives an edge can and will be used unless specifically prohibited by the organizers. Also, doping is common practice for elite level athletes. In the vast majority of cases, it's not a question of if they use drugs but whether or not those substance in particular are banned at that time.Originally Posted by kweassa1917 Go to original post
Banned is not the same thing as unintended. Lots of unintended stuff occurs in high level play and these aren't all banned. In the NFL the Ravens last year exploited a loophole in the rules and all their players held the other team and whittled down the time to 0. That's completely unintended but legal. Go watch any MvC tournament and half the tech you see there is unintended and many are exploits.
As a player, your job is to win not manufacture an honor code about what tools you should or shouldn't use. Only the most abusive glitches even warrant consideration.
But the problem is that you encourage this kind of behavior when it shouldn't happen. Rules, restrictions, etc. are in our world because many people abuse and take advantage of things that they know shouldn't be used. Like you have soccer when kicking other player is considered fault. This of course can happen as a result of accident but why there are yellow and red cards that can even remove player from the game? Because without this players where abusing others only to win. It's the mentality you show here that creates all this toxic behavior - it's not directly forbidden so let's use it because winning is everything and others doesn't matter. And your example shows exactly this - low level of humanity. Instead of winning by skill they win by finding some loophole in rules because they couldn't win otherwise.
Street fighter and fighting games in general are well known for just accepting glitches and bugs as "tech". Either someone patches them or they will be used. That's the reality. As a kensei main there is very little I can do against a turtle. I have no obligation to Ubisoft to fix the game for them. They are most certainly not doing anything to fix the game for the kenseis so why should I give a ****.
If you want to hire referees for all your FH games and have all your opponents agree on outside rules then be my guest. Rules have to be discreet and enforceable to be any good and these exploits would not fit that criteria.
Exploits are tools, nothing more. Saying they're not skills is just wrong. Go watch the top 8 UMvC3 Evo matches and tell me that the players who use exploits aren't using skill. Exploits aren't a big deal in the competitive scene. Actually finding exploits garners you some acclaim from fellow competitive gamers and everyone congratulates the guy that found the exploit. Then other people try to find ways to counter that exploit. There's nothing inherently unfair about any of this since it's available to everyone.
