On PS4 it's more like between 460m & 500m, but can also depend on the elevation. But once they're rendered I haven't had much issue sniping them. I had no issue sniping a 703m target earlier this week using a M40A5 w/G28 scope, and I didn't have to do much more than drone him & reposition. It's getting them to appear and stay that way that's usually the issue. I got a 1,000m kill with the M1891 w/G28 scope this week. On console it can be tricky, but can be done. Just scoping on a distant target you know is there, doesn't make them appear usually. Bionoculars fully upgraded doesn't render them most of the time either. However, using the drone (sometimes with zoom) to cover the distance allows you to get some longer shots.

I'm sure the draw distance is greater on PC, so it hasn't been much of issue for those on that system, but it is for consoles. I was originally going to buy it for PC, but if i had, I wouldn't have been able to play with my friends who decided to get it for PS4.

It's been my experience that unless you choose to, you won't have to. For me, I normally engage targets at greater distances before closing in simply because I enjoy sniping, and enjoy it even more when they don't notice me doing it. I like sniping with sniper rifles, assault rifles, and even sub-machine guns.

This is so true, and is why I like the game. Every approach is effective

However, it is a shame that UBI decides what attachments we can use. Any weapon with a top rail should take any attachments that fits on the rail, and the same should go for under barrel and side rails too.

    I agree with you.

Googling if that's possible is what got me to this post

I had a thought on this. Why don’t they link the sniper scopes with the longer barrels. As in you can only equip a sniper scope on you AR, if you equip a longer barrel. When you remove the barrel, it automatically removes the scope.

I voted No because you get to carry 2 long guns and can switch weapons at any time. The way I see it, even if you role play to avoid the unrealistic gun store on your back weapon switching, you either play with a stealth or loud style. If I were a loud type guy I'd carry an LMG and an AR instead of a sniper and AR.

Even if you could only carry one long gun though the only time I'd put a sniper scope on an AR is if it was one of those dual scopes that you could flip down to a scope with much less powerful optics. I absolutely hate being stuck with a long range scope when I need to engage in fairly close combat, and IMO the non ADS reticle aiming in this game sucks.

BTW, the title of this thread should be "Long range scope on Assault Rifle?" Scopes are fairly common on ARs, long range ones, not so much.

Sorry mate but that is some weird *** logic. Also, did you miss out on them adding Ghost Mode?
You also argue as if this would force you to use a 'long range scope' while scopes are optional.

''No, use a sniper if you wanna snipe'' I hate to say it, but unless you're one of those boring ''muhh it's not realistic and I am a military man I know things!1one'' person you really have no reason to vote for this. Again, it is optional

    O P T I O N A L

I am not sure if I said it yet, but I wanted to finish this post by mentioning that it is, in the end, optional

None of the magnification levels on any of the magnified optics in the game are higher than what many professionals use on their AR's be that in competition or in the military that being said the ones in the gamel would, in reality probably not be ideally suited for use on AR's and might not have the right magnification range to be an ideal fit to add on the AR's as they lack the 1x magnification. Ideally they would add one or more 1-6x and 1-8x "Low Powered Variable Optic's" the higher end of the magnification level could be lowered to address any performance issues need be. LPOV's are becoming the standard for those who need the capability they afford the end user being able to go from shooting close-medium-longer ranges and are in consideration for widespread adoption in the military and have been used in current conflicts as they offer a good balance of functionality.

These are a few popular LPOV's that could be added.
    NightForce ATACR 1-8x24
    Leupold MK6 1-6x
    Leupold Mark 8 CQBSS 1.1-8x24mm.
Trijicon Accupower 1-8x28mm or Trijicon Accupower 1-4x24mm.
    Trijicon Accupoint for the 1-6x24mm.
    Trijicon VCOG 1-6x24mm
Schmidt & Bender, US Optics, Valdada IOR, and others would also be acceptable alternatives to the ones listed.
