I never really saw any real tactical shooters on the PS3 or PS4. I think maybe because of the audience playing on consoles. Or maybe because it can't be done, or something. There were some titles that came close but for me in the end just didn't have that feel a lot of people like myself are looking for.
Sniper Ghost Warrior I don't really find that tactical to be honest. I did play all of them so far but for me, I play as a Sniper / Spotter in Arma, the options of where you can go are quite limited. The ranges are also not that long, which makes me feel more like a Designated Marksman than a Sniper shooting from afar. But then again, I don't think Sniper: Ghost Warrior tries to be a replica of true sniping. Anyway, I am just used to having a lot of open space around me while somebody else is covering me and having so many options on where to go. So yes maybe I am spoiled.
I also don't really get why gamers are labeled nowadays. Sure I play a lot of tactical games but for me that's casual game play. I refer to casual as being comfortable with how you play and what you're playing as. And really, a gamer is a gamer. After all they play games. What difference does it make how they play a game? All these labels I think are just things companies came up with to sort of explain why they hype games so much which in the end turn out to be totally opposite of what they promised. As for Wildlands, I just don't see why people claim this game is made for the audience of today. What on Earth is that? Who do they mean? Gamers are gamers. I for instance do play this game every day but a lot of times find myself shutting the game off because the crappy AI either doesn't do what I ask them to do for the tenth time in a row, or decides to give away a perfect stealthy approach more often than not. It's mostly rebels doing this for some reason, but it is just too annoying when you're careful and see it all go to waste because the AI decides to do something stupid and give your position away, and have to do all of it again.
I'm actually quite interested in the other titles mentioned here. I'll have a look at them.

As others have stated, games like Ground Branch and Epsilon are your best bets at getting anything resembling a true tactical shooter. The fact that we have to put our hopes in small indie developers just shows the sad state of affairs the industry is in. To all you displeased fans that preordered this steaming pile of canine excrement, I warned you. Ubi Soft got your money, now learn to live with it, eat it. You get no sympathy from the likes of me.

You should try Squad...Originally Posted by timpbader Go to original post
is really immersive and needs a lot (and I mean a LOT) of team communication (most people are forced to use mics and headsets for proper gameplay)
Yep, Squad is another game on my radar. Its a nice blend of traditional FPS mixed with Arma 3 style gameplay. There is also another Swat style game in the works by an indie developer, although I can't remember the name.Originally Posted by Halmeth Go to original post
Yes thankfully I preordered Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 and Season Pass edition that includes Season Pass at NO additional charge!! It releases April 25 (imagine why Narco Road is set for 25th too) in anxiously awaiting this. It's a much more serious game plot for adults and geared for adults and seems to have aspect of GRW but much more thought out ranking and leveling system as far as getting gear and other things.
