    Guardswitch for blocking

So, recently I've been having some problems blocking many attacks. I don't know if it is just me, or if it is a problem with the game. I was wondering if anybody knew any effective ways to practice blocking random attacks and working on reaction time. The things to practice with that are already in the game are crap. The bot just moves it's guard to a different side and then throws a heavy and waits a few seconds before repeating the same process. If my problems are due to a lack of quality in the game itself, I know what it is. Because of my difficulties I have tested to see if there was a delay in between the time I move the right stick on my Xbox One controller (I play on console), and when the guard actually fully switches. What I saw was what I expected. There was about a half-second delay between the two, and that is long enough for almost anyone to get a light attack in on me, or maybe even a heavy. I am more leaning towards the idea that there's a problem with the game, rather than the theory that I need more practice, because I consistently switch my guard the moment I see the indicator, but it ends up not switching in time because of the delay, even though I moved the right stick on the controller in time to block the attack. I've watched some friends play on the PC version of the game, and I've noticed that there is no delay in between the time they move the mouse and the time the guard switches in the game. If anybody knows any tips on practicing blocking at a speed equal to the speed of real situations in the game (against other players), with random sides and different attacks, feel free to let me know.

Well this has been discussed already... there is a dead zone of the controller and you are experiencing it.
I play on PC but bought a controller because of another issue with the mouse - I thought it will be better but unfortunately it is not.

The only thing that can help you a bit is to get the Xbox One Elite controller (the one I have) which has an option to reduce the dead zone in half (roughly) but it is expensive.

Sadly I don't know much about removing the deadzone on console but on PC:
I reduced my deadzone to almost 0 using Steam's "Big Picture" mode. If you didn't buy the game on Steam, you can still link it to steam and in Big Picture it allows you to adjust controller settings including dead zone.
Since I have no dead zone I actually restricted my stick movement by drilling a hole in the middle of a chap stick cap and sliding it over my analog stick. This helped a lot with moving my guard faster from one guard to the next (so if I missed a left guard and they go for a right hit, I can get there a heck of a lot faster. Oh also if I release the stick when I am in the left guard it won't flick into the right guard like it would before.
