Let's talk about this and I hope Massive decides to take part.
They are taking 20% of the blast damage and shifting it to the after burn.
Does that mean the burn will be hotter and do more damage faster or does that mean that the burn will be longer and do damage for a longer amount of time?
If it means more damage faster, that is a straight up nerf to burn resistance. 30% burn resistance means the burn effect is 30% shorter. That is the way of 1.6.
Do they really mean to make some fire hotter than others?
For the sake of keeping it simple, let's say the burn is 10 seconds and you have 30% burn resistance.
30% of 10 is 3 so the burn would be cut off at 7 seconds.
Either way they move the damage, burn resistance takes a nerf.
You will either take more damage during the 7 seconds or,if the burn lasts longer, the 30% will allow a longer burn.
Let's take a 100,000 damage seeker as an example.
They'll be moving 20,000 damage to the burn. That means the fire will have to be way hotter or last way longer.
Either way, burn resistance will be far less effective.
I know their plan is to simply let a snack bar or a medkit instantly end the burn. They mean to give the seeker a 20% nerf.
Problem is,it may force you to use consumables or medkits for a burn that many players have specced to resist.
Now their exotic damage resistance will be stronger and their burn resistance will be weaker.(against seeker mines)
Simple changes are not always so simple. We'll have to see.
I wish they would speak up and tell us HOW the damage will be moved.
A longer burn and no stagger will hurt PvE bad. Unless they figure out how to make the NPCs finally react to fire status effects. Some of them ignore it completely.
They are shifting 20% of the seekers blast damage to the burn.Originally Posted by demon2blade Go to original post
The burn has to be either hotter or longer.
If the burn is going to do 20,000 more damage, one or both things have to change. Either change nerfs burn resistance and buffs exotic resistance against seekers.
Seeker clusters are already useless in PvP because of the 40% PvP modifier. Most average builds shrug them off like they never happened.Originally Posted by MadFingerer Go to original post
They are still strong in PvE though.
I wish they'd learn to do all the nerfs like that. You don't have to make something useless in PvE because it's mildly over powered in PvP.
The only thing clusters are good for in PvP is taking out other seeker mines.
You can have 84K skill power and your seeker will kill other seekers. Six of them at a time if need be.
Seeker mines prioritize other seeker mines. You wouldn't even need to throw them at the other seekers. Just let it roll along beside you when you get into the action. If the enemy throws out a seeker, they will target each other and you're safe. Even if multiple enemies throw seekers, yours can split into six and all the seekers will target each other.
I don't think you're going to get the kind of damage people had with airburst before though , when they change part of the damage to burn it will be like being on fire any other time surely,it's probably meant to incapacitate you like being hit by a cleaner with fire or something ,i think the thought behind it is you can negate the burn effect via medkit or something i can't see them buffing the burn effect from them to make up the damage they had beforeOriginally Posted by mckrackin5324 Go to original post

I already know it won't work. It's just a 20% damage nerf and 100% stagger nerf.
And burn resistance just shortens the burn duration. 30% resistance means the burn ends 30% sooner.
No matter which way they shift the damage, burn resistance is less effective.
If the burn ends sooner with 30% burn resistance than doesn't that mean you take 30% less damage from it seeing as your not burning for as long though ?, They might be keeping the damage the same as you say but say I've got 60% burn resistance (i have ) i can't take as much damage as i do now from them then because i wont be burning for long , I'm unsure and we won't find out till changes are made reallyOriginally Posted by mckrackin5324 Go to original post
Well, you have 60% burn resistance.Originally Posted by demon2blade Go to original post
So your burn will be 40% of 10 seconds. 4 seconds.
If the burn is lengthened, your burn will be 40% of a bigger number...a longer burn. More damage.
If the burn is intensified, you will take more damage during the 4 seconds.
Either way, your burn res is less effective.
Exotic damage resistance could also be nerfed in a certain way. Not as bad.
Since it mitigates a percentage of damage,it will now be mitigating a set percentage of a smaller number.
But since the seekers are going to do 20% less damage up front,it's kind of a moot point.
Seeker with 100,000 blast damage.
30% EDR absorbs 30,000 damage.
You are hit for 70,000 damage.
20% nerfed seeker now has 80,000 blast damage.
30% EDR absorbs 24,000 damage.
You are hit for 56,000 damage.
Everything is lessened but the end result is a weak seeker. That's what they all want.
