1.- you were not able to order individual soldiers in oGR but only the squad (alpha, bravo or Charlie)
2.- You could only choose pre arranged weapon kits for your squad with different loadout combinations (so no full customization)
3.- On top of that there were skill points to earn and spend on your squad AI to improve their skills and an (optional) threat indicator in the HUD.

Don't get me wrong, oGR defined the genre back in the day, but did have some strange things as well. But very lethal gameplay nonetheless.
And this was back in the 90's... imagine what the Original Red Storm Studios would have been able to come up now in 2017 if Ubisoft would not neuter the game and had the Cojones to Innovate instead of trying to to copy every other good game out there???... half-assed I might add.

1.- That is correct but you could put the 3 squads to do whatever you wanted. Besides, you could always soul swap so you took command of whatever was happening. Here, according to those who know best, what you have to do is NOT give any commands to your squad ai so they can do what they do best... I have yet to find what that is though.

2.- But at least the bullet mechanics were by far superior than what we got here, where a slingshot rock drops further than bullets shot from these weapons. And yes, I am exaggerating but you know what I am saying... except of course when the Engineer IT with a Masters degree comes in to let us know eloquently how it must be.

2a.- This full customization thing came after the shooter games were sold as TPV where most people like to walk around dressing the part and forget that the primordial thing about the game is shooting the baddies and not looking like you're going to a red carpet show.

3.- One thing I dislike about the game but at least, each member had his own advantages and by soul swapping you could take advantage of it. Here you are a 1 man Rambo Army

    Well, you sure told them!!

Perhaps next time, you don't give them the 60 bucks and flip them the finger... I am sure that will hurt them more.

3rd person games are so rare, Im cherishing every title I get in third person, and Im liking Recon Wildlands a lot, Im new to the Recon series

So the old Red Storm myth comes out for another airing.

Ignoring the inconvenient fact that Ubisoft have owned Red Storm since 2000, why don't we just simply see what some of the guys who made the original think of Wildlands? Other than saying it is the game they would have made if they could have back then, meaning I guess that we don't have to imagine.

Uhh I bought the game full price brand new and took mine back two weeks after playing it and gt a full refund. Not every shops at Gamestop for games and lots of retailers are cool and have generous return policies. .

Moving on, as for the game, Honestly I liked it enough but with most Ubisoft games sans For Honor after playing it for awhile Ubicitis starts to kick in. You know that been there ,done that feeling that leads to boredom. Gaming is suppose to be fun and engaging and for the first half of the game yes its fun. However like I said been there ,done that... nothing feels new and there are some very questionable design decisions although there are good ones too. Its not all bad but I just feel $65 ( tax in WA state ) it just doesnt feel like a value to me. Took my refund and bought THe Witcher 3 Complete Edition, ,Christ on a bike that game has value .... oh Triss Merigold, how I love thee !!!!

    Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat ?

Oh ubisoft, to wrap up. You guys have talent under your wing but you are stuck in this perpetual sate of repetition. Dont get me wrong, Widlands represents a finely honed open world formula but as I said above, its all been done before. For Honor was a step in the right direction, a new IP with a new flavor. GR is a fine game but its just chewed meat at this point.

WOW really ? are you that unhinged ? My reply with presented with tact, and lucidity you know clarity of expression something your post lacked greatly. I didn't attack anyone, I presented my opinion with negatives and positives. What did you do ? Also, this is the 3rd page of the thread with multiple replies in between the OP, and you dare call upon a lack of common sense when someone calls you out on your inability to use the quote function ? REALLY ??

That was a great Ubi video, meanwhile......

Let's talk to the ghost of Herman Goring and find out what he thinks about National Socialism.

They work for Ubi. Ubi signs their check. Who pays the fiddler calls the tune. What do you think their going to say if they want a job. How about this, some of the crew at Black Foot Studios also worked for Red Storm, Tom Clancy and Doug Littlejohn (your countryman) owned Red Storm, not Ubi French owned (or maybe the Ubi French owned is why they left). Interview them and get their take.

And by the way, take a peek at Ground Branch. The contrast between what Black Foot Studios is developing and what Ubi put out is striking. Maybe someday the new Red Storm can put Ground Branch and Wildlands next to each other and we can get an honest opinion about the tactical shooter aspects of both. But I also want my wife to go with her hot friend while I join in. Alas, both scenarios are only a dream.
