Greetings warriors,
You maybe already noticed it, but we made a change to Kensei's Superior Block last week and the changes didn't appear in the Patch Notes. So here it is:
Kensei
- Superior Block timings on dodge forward, left, right now ends 500ms into the Dodge (from 1000ms)
- Regular defense on dodge forward, left and right added on last 500ms.
- Superior Block replaced by regular defense on back dodge.
Developer comments:
Kensei’s Superior Block on Dodge was too safe as it was available during the entire duration of the Dodge, and in all dodge directions. Reducing Superior Block timings on Dodge forward, left and right makes this more challenging in terms of timing and makes the move more coherent in terms of momentum as you can Superior Block only in the early portion of your Dodge. Getting rid of Superior Block on back dodge follows the same logic of risk management. Back dodge is already pretty safe so having Superior Block on top of it felt too safe. Note that Kensei still has regular defense on Dodges when Superior Block isn’t available.

I am kensei rep 9, and I am not even close to best kensei, I see myself as in middle, but whenever I meet Warden or Raider or Conq who knows mechanics of game as much as I do, Or better I have to use my brain like 200% more than opponent, because With kensei its like fightning tiger with kitchen knife ... U can beat them if you 1000% focus and predict movement .. but thing is, for them to beat u, all they need to do, is just turtle and parry or in warden case use 121678 tools to kill you

I agree on Warden and Conq, but Raider ? Raider can just turtle and parry and beat you ? With his sluggish guard switch speed and no proper follow up after GB ? I mean Kensei guard switch speed is like 6 frames while Raider is 21 frames (the info is from for honor competitive sub-reddit) If you get beaten by a Raider my friend it's because your opponent is better than you, his Raider is not stronger than your Kensei. Sadly Raider is kinda at the bottom of the tier list right now. And Kensei has been buffed to mid tier in the last patch.Originally Posted by Yatagarasu-san Go to original post
We are waiting on ur orochi update, u guys nerfed him into the ground and now he is useless in late game. I am tired of being that top light and zone guy because All my moves predictable and easy to parry, deflect is not even worth the risk. Plz look in to it. Never meant to be rude aswell, sorry if it felt this way. That's just me being quite upset about all this stuff and such.
It seems to me that you are trying to balance Kensei blindly, it definitely will not work well, so here is my suggestion. There is a number of quite awesome Kensei players, like EnderVex, Alphastrike, Lucasfio, Pinksepy, Pogswg, BigHatLogan(not sure about his ingame nickname tho), handheldBrando... I'm sure I haven't mentioned all of them, no offence... If it's possible could you please involve them (or one of them at least) to balancing process at some point?
