keep in mind with co op both of you need to check modem as well as router and internal firewall settings also (yes this includes several antivirus firewall software programs ) as well as yes many modems and routers DO CONTAIN AN INTERNAL FIREWALL you may need to open ports for

    please see .. https://support.ubi.com/en-US/faqs/0...Issues-PC-FC4/

AND yes if your friend or you modded your game you will need the same mods installed i do believe..since several change the base game files

as well as both players MUST play the SP game until they meet HURK ......... until then CO OP = LOCKED

Also, make sure to disable any non-essential network adapters! I had to disable my VMWare Network adapters, so I would only have my LAN one active. It seems the game can't handle multiple active adapters properly, possibly defaulting to the one it sees first.

The game would connect & stuff to the ubi/uplay/custom maps servers online. But joining a friend's game would get me a message "NOTIFICATION" (with a spinning wheel, not doing much else), followed by a "WARNING: Cannot connect to the game session. Please try again later." after the connection timeout passes. I only managed to solve this by disabling the nonessential network adapters.
