For me it's a battle of first hits. They want to hit you with side lights. You want to hit with top lights. If I lose the exchange I resign myself to blocking their inevitable combo and don't even try to parry. To keep them off balance I do some ZA/parry option selects once I get them to turtle up. The main point is to get them to stop defending top but sometimes I get a parry.Originally Posted by Manlorey Go to original post
The matchup really lays bare how limited Orochi is by making his fluff downright bad options. Baiting for a Stormrush is useless against Super Armor. Side Dash Attacks give enough time to start super armor. Berzerker can kill you in a blink so you need to just block. You have to keep it a fight for first hits because if you get cute, you're dead. Nothing you do will be a fair trade. On the plus side, if you do make it a grind it out kind of battle, top light deals more damage that what Berzerker can do.
Just my thoughts on the matchup thus far from a week or so playing on PC with the new zerker. I'm still learning it obviously.
So Warrior's Den just stated that Hurricane Blast will have Hyper Armor. I deflect backstab might now be the iconic Orochi Move now. It's Hurricaine Blast is 50 points of damage or two full bars.
@Manlorey, this should really help the Berzerker matchup too since this will be defensive counter to what the Zerker wants to do and any trade between a Hyper Armor Zerker and Hyper Armor HB will favor Orochi.
I'm stoked about the HB. I would use the modified version where you pull both attack buttons instead of heavy and it would happen a lot quicker but the dmg was mehh compared to the regular HB. I switched to Kensei a while back and then stopped altogether until recently so I'm not even sure if the modified HB still exists. It wasn't listed and I found it just by playing around. It was good for initiating chains though and it's always better to have more options then less.
