    Revenge Poll

I still see regular posts regarding the revenge mechanic and there are a lot of differing opinions in the community. I'd like to conduct a poll to see if the community is as split as it seems or if there is a more common opinion on the issue of the current revenge mechanic.

    The categories I've seen are:
    • to leave it functionally the same but buff some or all stats such as duration, defense, attack, etc.
    • to leave it functionally the same but nerf some or all stats such as attack, duration, defense, etc.
    • to leave it functionally the same but change how it is built up
    • to leave it as it is now but completely remove it from duel and brawl
    • to leave it as it is now, the mechanic is fine, players just don't use it well
    • to rework the functionality as it is not used for its intended purposes

My personal opinion is that it needs a rework. As it is now, when fighting a one on one duel, it is not only incredibly powerful but has different levels of power depending on a character. For instance, any character that has a bash now gets a knockdown to guaranteed heavy from landing the bash. When in an outnumbered situation it depends more on who you are fighting than anything else. If you are outnumbered by experienced players than it really doesn't help at all. There are enough characters that can effectively run the clock out on revenge and its not going to stop an onslaught from multiple enemies. In a one versus two scenario, it is at its most effective but against experienced players it still doesn't do much for you unless you get the knockdown and one shot follow up. Personally, I believe that prior to worrying about minor stat adjustments, the base mechanic needs a shift. I believe that replacing the knockdown effect with the effect of ignoring grabs and more importantly shoves would be a lot more effective. This would prevent you from getting locked down and allow for a shift in the fight or an escape. The activation is fine, if you simply replace the knockdown with a knock back instead. I also think that having your stamina exhausted after the duration ends would be a nice touch but as with all changes, testing would be needed.

I'm curious to see where the community is and I think a poll is an effective tool for illustrating the community opinion in a quick to read format.

I think all the gear stats could do with a massive rework.

I would rather they remove revenge stats entirely but in exchange, allow the attack/defence stat to effect it again. Then add different gear stats where the revenge stats used to be. The whole gear stats system is flawed in it's current state. Even with the revenge nerf, people will still use revenge builds. Why? Because there is literally no other choice! Aside from revenge, the other gear stats hardly do anything. Even with max throw distance, my opponent only moves an extra two steps or so. Which isn't much of a difference and it also ends up putting the opponent out of reach for a punish when they're thrown to the floor.

The way I see it, they need to make gear stats actually meaningful, or just get rid of it entirely. They could do so much with it if the gear stats were actually interesting and had a big impact on the way you're hero fights. Everything is so boring because everyone has the same build. Even if Revenge was nerfed again people would still use revenge gear because there is nothing else. With the sprint speed nerf, the only other worthwhile stat besides revenge is feat cooldown, but that's only good for a select few heroes.

Revenge mode needs to be strong in order to be effective against 2v1/3v1/etc situations as it was intended, but it needs to be a lot harder to successfully achieve.

I agree with the guy above me

Need some speed boost and added defense to run to teammates slight attack buff wouldn't hurt though but nothing like it was

Revenge always seemed like a strange mechanic to me. First of all, rewarding you for blocking is definetley not a good idea, especially in 1v1. Also Revenge breaks immersion. A way better way of dealing with being outnumbered would be to add 100% friendly fire when locked on and increase the amount of active frames on side swings.

imo, Revenge worked perfectly, it forced people into actually letting you fight 1v1, or to play smart when ganking someone. The only difference I would like to have, is that it should be unable to proc during 1v1s, itshouldn't be able to build up revenge before its a 2v1 or something.

They need to rework it somewhat. Revenge buffs some heroes more then others which isn't a good design. Classes that have abilities like head butt can put players on their asses constantly while others can't.

True. Imo the knockdown on any sort of bash shouldn't be there. Revenge should give a slight boost to health and defense but not as much as before. My suggestion would be that everyone that gets parried by the revenge activation is exhausted till revenge ends, knocked down and also stunned and therefore effectiveley taken out of combat.

It doesn't matter to me what will happen with revenge in all of the other modes but for the love of god. remove it from 1v1. It's a quick and easy fix. At least one problem solved.
