    True.

However, I continue to hold my principle. If Ubi wants to punish me for ragequitting, they need to get their stuff in order. This needs to stop being acceptable as simply a state a game exists in.

And if and when that happens, I'll formally support a steel cost for leaving matches.

Penalizing people for leaving is a non-option. It's only alienated people and killed game communities. Just look at Halo's community as it's become a toxic mess and people who paid good money to play their game online and utilize a feature of the game they paid for are getting temp bans from further matchmaking.

I for one find this to be appalling as they pay not only for the online services Xbox Live, or in my case Playstation Plus, but they pay for this game which is advertised as multiplayer capable, and that they are being denied access to a feature that they paid for is criminal.

I don't care how many people rage quit, they don't deserve to be robbed of their time and money.

OK, I'll try my best to answer this in a fair way without insulting anyone.

Nobody is obligated to play, nor should they be. Adding in a "leaving penalty" is the quickest way to ensure the death of this game by alienating players.

Furthermore, quitting out is sometimes the only real punishment that a player can inflict on another, it's the singular most desperate attempt at communicating that the conditions that brought on the quit was one that was perceived as unfair and un-fun.

This is my case for Ubisoft to NOT implement a "penalty" for quitters.
"Nobody is obligated to be your punching bag in this game."
Nobody is trying to use you as a punching bag, games are played with winning in mind.

"Nobody is obligated to play in any way that they don't find themselfes to be entertaining, because that's what this game is, entertainment."
Nobody forces you to play. when you start a match you commit to it. When you quit midgame, you ruin your opponents entertainment. in 4v4 modes you ruin everyone elses entertainment, both teammates and opponents alike.

"Adding in a "leaving penalty" is the quickest way to ensure the death of this game by alienating players."
That's wrong. there are other games that use a penalty systhem and still have a big player base. Also no players are Alienated. A rage quit penalty won't come without warning, and when it comes it does only last for a certain amount of time that usually stacks up if you keep on doing it. The first time you quit usually won't count. There will only be a warning displayed. The second time you quit will coun't, but the first penalty won't be unbearable, it usually last's around 3 to 5 minutes. if you quit the next game, this will change to 10 to 15 minutes, which inturn will change to 30 minutes and so on so forth if you continue with your behavior.

"Furthermore, quitting out is sometimes the only real punishment that a player can inflict on another, it's the singular most desperate attempt at communicating that the conditions that brought on the quit was one that was perceived as unfair and un-fun."
This is the part where it's getting really hard for me not to use abusive language. luckily i do only communicate with my hands right now. Keeping my mouth shut would be impossible. Ok here i go. The players are not supposed to punish each other. that's the developers job. If you perceive the conditions as unfair, you can allways report the opposing player. If you perceive the conditions as un-fun, that's pretty much your own problem. Punishing somebody for your own amusement's sake is not justified.

Ok, so now that this is out of the way, let me just add that:
    1. rage quitting does often lead to unfair conditions for the rest of the players because the missing player will be replaced with a bot. Ragequitting can also cause unvoluntary disconnections or even end the entire match because no host is found.

    2. Real life is a factor that is allready taken into consideration. If you are forced to quit because of your real life, you are still able to do that without being punished. how? well first off the first time you quit won't count. secondly, the first actual penalty will only last for a relatively short time. If you need to fulfill a task in your real life, it will most likely last longer than 5 minutes. If it doesn't last that long, you can spend the remaining time with customizing your heroes.

    3. The matchmaking will be changed very soon. Afterwards you won't be forced to play against heroes with a higher renown level. Also, the rage quit penalty won't be added before the matchmaking is fixed.
