the momentum idea is great but they seem to want to keep him as a strong defender (roomer in dominion ?). How can he be a strong defender and a good harasser without being totally OP.
I think the best way for a good defense is to grant the conqueror of punish capacity based on timing. These mechanics already exist like the perfect dodging of assassin that in the case of the conqueror could trigger an powerfull shield bash motion. It's a single move that by definition won't be spammable![]()
You should always be wary of making defence the superior offensive option. By all means give him good defensive tools relative to the rest of the cast, but the moment you make defending the best way to win a fight, you've got a staring contest on your hands.Originally Posted by Capoupacap Go to original post
Personally I liked his omniblock being able to protect him from guaranteed damage off headbutts etc.; it had a large stamina cost and was not something you wanted to do all the time. It wouldn't have been so big of a deal if unblockables weren't the only way to get ANY damage off in the current meta. The only thing about it that really needed to die was being able to dodge-block out of it to get a guaranteed punish on the attacker for very little stamina cost.
Well, while I'm happy that they finally boosted the heavy base damage and also happy that the anti-Shield Bashers got what they wanted (punishable SBs), here is what I think would be good for the class:
1) Final Argument: the finishing Heavy should be Unblockable. It's predictable and slow anyways, so we should get the chance to land it every once in a while.
2) Charged Heavy Attack should drain your stamina up to a certain point, let's say, 50%. Then it would stop draining it. This would diffuse situations where the opponent simply walks away from the Charged Heavy. "You can walk away, boy, but I'm still gonna be here waving my flail around till you come back. And you _will_ come back."
3) Extra feature (!!!): since the Conq carries a big *** shield around, there could be an option to use it when you are on the ground. Make a new move that allows the Conq to mitigate incoming damage while he is on the ground.
I've been playing a lot of duels with my conq after the patch.
I didn't notice much difference at first. People still ***** and complain after I beat them, and sometimes before the match starts (as usual). I even tell them how they can counter me when they bring up the subject, and I still do fine against most ppl. The small buffs he got made things nicer overall actually.
My conclusion is that most ppl still haven't learned.
Conq may be trash in top-level tournament play, but it still kicks *** against mid/above average players.
As a casual I will keep playing my conq cuz she looks so damn awesome!![]()
