Revenge should normally do the deal to help you, but it is too weak. Ganking must be punished, e.g. by reducing the attackstrength of gankers.
I played like 200 hours and i am more and more frustrated about the dishonest community and the game mechanics that promote dishonest conduct. The game has the wrong name, because its "For Ganking", but it has NOTHING to do with honourable fighting! It sucks to be ganked every evening by 2,3 or 4 guys that even boost themselves and feel great by chopping down single victims. They shouldnt even be called "heroic" or "legendary", because it is no feat to kill one opponent with other companions! It only leads to counter-ganking, so there is a big fault in the game mechanic. The objection one may just be a bad player is self-righteous and hypocritical, because noone can get better being constantly ganked. you can improve yourself by fighting bots, but you cant really get to defend yourself against constant ganks, some really good players can, but few.
duels are a good way to get honest fights, brawls sometimes, too, but that means, that you cant play the other game modes to which refer the daily tasks. all other game modest are infested with morally inferior players
Considered the constantly dropping number of players even you at ubisoft should wake up. on the one side, game stability has to be improved and matchmaking should relate to dedicated servers (p2p was a very bad idea!), but also the game mechanics itself need an overhaul in my oppinion.
For Honor could be a great game, but you shouldnt allow dishonest, poor people to boost themselves with being *******s ingame. Other games may have the right to be morally indifferent, but not if the game is called "for honor" (which is an expression of moral virtue).
So either you change the name of the game in like "Gank**** party"
or you punish that condamnable ganking.
I would recommend a mechanism by lowering the attackstrength of the attackers compared to their number.
Stop assuming this is dark souls...
People bought the game they play how they want, it's not your place to tell them how to play the game,
Besides multiple other if not nearly all other games have the same system
Fps - getting shot in the back is not dishonest... it's your own fault for not being aware
Mmo's - learn your class better or have better teamwork
Rts - Part of how the game plays, since it's easier to take one down as 2
Sportsgames - A lot of sports games you can control mutliple players depending on the amount of people you are...hence giving you an advantage
Overall Honor is not anything developers encourage, since it's up to the individual to decide how or how not to fight.
So if you get salty about getting ganked then play duels ^^
Overall i love the salt i get from 2 manning people in brawls xD
Ps. I can understand your frustration, i find it annoying sometimes to get double teamed aswell,
but overall there is nothing to do about it since we play to win, and as the old saying go
In war everything goes
I thank you for your reply Guldfisken90, and you are totally right, that most games aren't fair. It may go down to equipment level, time invested or money payed etc. - as life isn't fair either.
I see that there are mechanics in this game that should improve fairness, since your equipment bonus is leveled down in duels and brawls and you can earn your feasts instead of buying them (and learn to play the character), but I still find it not enough. "Revenge" can be boosted and improved by equipment, but it is too weak to fulfill its task, if you are ganked heavily.
I know that moral ambiguity is of huge importance to a lot of computer players, since they may live out their fantasies and behave as they are not allowed in normal life (katharsis thesis), and, of course, not all are dark souls. But there are a lot of poor people playing this game that need to boost themselves by lampooning and disgracing their opponents, especially if they win (pretending the game was "ez", opponents were "noobs" etc.).
I regard it to be a shame that a game that relates to chivalric virtues encourages dishonourly behaviour that much. I am well aware that a lot of knights weren't honorable themselves, but why pick societies with a long fighting tradition and even an "art of war" as ideologic background of this game, even calling it directely "for honor", if I dont care to implement it. (I doubt it was just about a paper-rock-scissors-design with no better ideas...)
Thus, I would recommend building this game as a counterpart to the "normal life" where the morally most disreputable persons are rewareded with richness, fast cars and beautiful partners for just being *******s. You could build up an example against the mentality to kick people lying on the floor that already have lost. You could do this by reducing the attacker strength or by the judgement of other players by creating notoriety levels (by complaints) that prevent players of a certain notoriety-level to join fights etc.
I know there are more pressing needs like delivering stable gameplay, dedicated servers, better matching routine etc., but I would like to hint on the ideological and moral problem behind the game design and its actual state. Therefore I still believe that ganking should be punished more severe in the game mechanics.
Imagine how it feels when u manage to kill em all when they come 4on1
I agree with the post and especially nowthat rage is nerfed i did not tried yet but i hope ubi did not fu**ed us all up taken away the chance of winning against 3or4 opponents
Sametime!
Please nerf please nerf rage mode its so unbalanced we cant **** up one guy even 4on1
I study medieval fencing and I can only confirm your words. Honor was not always the part of common courtesy. History knows of many examples where the nobility people were simply not honorable at all. And at last, when the revenge mechanics is degraded so much, I like discussion about punishing the ganging. Real life is unfair, while I hoped in the games, it would be different.Originally Posted by PrincessAleena Go to original post
