    Underbarrel Attachment Placement

NOTE. this was an email i sent to Ubisoft so the intended audience may seem weird. I just wanted to post this on the forums to maybe get more traction in the idea.

After playing Wildlands for a few days Ive come to the conclusion that adding the player the ability to choose the position where vertical foregrips are positioned would be a great feature for customization. Personally i prefer the foregrip to be closer to the magazine. If you look at pictures of the MK14 EBR The foregrip is close to the magazine as seen in these pictures.

As you can see the foregrip is supposed to be closer to the magazine. I believe if the option was added to the game where players could choose the position of all foregrips from either close or far from the magazine well it would be a great customization benefit. ALSO... The P416 in the game already features all of its vertical forgrips in a close position. If you could copy this for other weapons in game as a frame of reference i believe would be the best option

Also there is an error with a few Assault rifles in game with the standard under-barrel grenade launcher. When the grenade launcher is equipped to the M4A1 the launcher is positioned all the way at the end of the rail instead of butting up against the mag well like it should. As stated before with the P416 the under barrel attachments on this gun are poisoned close to the magazine. Coincidentally the grenade launcher on this gun is also positioned correctly. the problem only stems from guns that have the foregrip placed far away. This should be fixed as it looks very weird on some guns.

Thats the difference between AAA games and indie games. I paid $66 for this game and others paid even more. We expect not demand quality for our buck. Things like this matter more then they appear. For instance, why is it when I have the camera over my left shoulder, when I switch to ADS my hand is backwards on the gun ? Doesnt affect gameplay sure, but its cringey and reeks of poor production.

The awkward positioning of certain attachments, grips and grenade launchers in the end do detract from the experience to those with the knowledge of it being wrong. Others can just shrug it off due to them being unaware that such a setup is incorrect or just not caring. But like Varakharne mentions, it is expected that a AAA title game get these visual cues right and attention to detail is important. Many items are miscolored in the game as well (Multicam being one of the biggest eyesores in the game for me). Not to be expected to be seen in a game series such as Ghost Recon, especially seeing as many of these weapons and camos have been rendered correctly in previous games dating back to Ghost Recon 2 and Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike but it is. All of which is something that is fixable and should be corrected in a future patch. Yes, playability of the game and function will take priority early on, but it does not give such errors as these a pass.

Im not suggesting they model it for every position possible only two. There only needs to be two positions. One that is close to the mag well and one that is far. The far position is already in game so they would only need to focus on modelling the close position. But that is where this gets interesting. If you look at the the first assault rifle you get the P416 you can see they already have the foregrip in a close position. The thing i want added is technically already in game just not applied to all guns. It would be a relatively simple thing for Ubisoft to do and would make a big difference in customization. But as i mentioned in the main post if you equip the standard grenade launcher onto the M4A1 the grenade launchers positioning is completely wrong. This is because the game uses the positioning of foregrips as the mounting point for the standard grenade launcher. This causes the grenade launchers positioning to be nearly at the end of the quad rail and it looks broken to me. This happens with all guns that have the foregrip in a far position.

To people saying it's to much work: Take a look at Ground Branch. In this game, you can change the position of any attachment. And that from a studio with much lower capacity than Ubisoft.
