Yes, the look and feel of the environment is absolutely great, wish my character could jump and roll, but hey can't have everything, shame about the game play, some of the missions were repetitive and similar to each other and ok I sort of accept that to a certain extent and hoped it would be expanded upon wit the DLC's but I was very wrong on that, Narco Road should be renamed Narked Road .........As for Item placement....... I believe you are looking at an example of industrial art.

Thank you. That is a long talk, so I have not watched it all. I have seen enough to know they have some powerful software that assists in rendering trees and rocks and other landscape features, then they can go in and mold terrain as they see fit. Pretty neat tool.

I am always amazed, especially running through the pine forest in the Southwest of how natural it all looks.

By the way, make sure to play with headphones on sometime in the pine forest and you will hear the popping and cracking of the pines caused by sap expanding. That is a great detail that puts me in the woods around my cabin.

The guys doing this, came at it from a natural perspective. They looked at where the rivers would run from the rainfall, where the sun was, and what the soils would be made from and where the conditions for certain plants would be better. Then they looked at where humans would inhabit, where they'd build their roads, where they'd build camps and how they would travel about and arrange security and commerce etc. They didn't just design it from the perspective of where things "looked nice" so the result is natural and immersive and the best environment for a GR game to date.

My wife thought my screen was on fire!
I was taking a break for lunch and had the menu screen on, she glanced over and saw the smoke and motes of flame rising from the corner and had a panic! Very realistic indeed!
The in-game views are amazing. Very beautiful game. Well done!

I completely agree that the world in GRW is quite beautiful and a joy to play in.

Even with my ageing PC it looks great, is fluid, and best of all - there are no load screens (other than the two when starting the game and if you fast travel). I haven't seen much in the way of oversights in the world-building, which is rare for such a large open world. Credit where credit is due - well done to the world building team.

Got nearly 100 hours in this game so far, and I still get blown away from the graphics. How real things look. I have never taken so many screen shots in a game ever. If I wasn't at work I would put my absolutely fav one in (my current wallpaper), it looked so real that my GF couldn't even believe it was a game screenshot LOL.

    Nice shot.

One of the recurring themes my friends and I discuss as we travel to a mission and look around is how can anyone criticise the map for being bland and empty.

Did you play Horizon Zero Dawn? It came out a week after Ghost Recon and mission structure, story and world all interlinked wonderfully and GG showed off the game to the best ability possible way which really showed that very little effort went into Ubi's game bar the tremendous world they created. It's like Ubi created such a stunning world but did not have the talent to create a great game around it the way GG did with Horizon or the way R* did with GTAV
