Pretty much this. The world is amazing. Just wish there were more action and reaction systems in place. Take over a cartel location, rebels move in. Cartel may raid that site later to take it back. Lose too many locations and there is a build up of sams and patrols. Intel would be used to help you pin point which locations will be hit so you can go aid them. For a map this amazing I just wish there was more depth to what is happening on top of it for the player.

The world is fantastic but imo it needed a couple of Bolivian cities in the game to break it up a bit from the constant in the stix.

    Beautiful...

I will say, Wildlands is an extremely beautiful game. I am playing on the Xbox one and I am blown away with the detail of the game each time I play (coming from a long-time PC gamer). I could not be more satisfied and I really appreciate the work that was put into detail of the environment. The shadow and sun effects are top tier, just to name two specifically. Some of my favorite moments that made me stop what I was doing and look around is the reflection of the sun on the water. This really spruces up the landscape and it looks practically photo-realistic. Looking out into the distance at the mountain range landscape is also incredible. I have noticed that the sun position before Dusk (late afternoon) leaves the most realistic feeling in the game for me. I wish I could keep the sun in the position for longer duration, but I appreciate all times of the day and night.

It is detail like this that makes me never want to finish a game. A lot of games (although fun) seem like a chore. Wildlands does not feel like a chore to complete objectives, and this is a feeling I have not had in awhile with game. This game cured a huge itch that I have been looking for in this genre for a long time. Granted I can only play for 1-2 hours a few nights a week, I will be able to take my sweet time. I am excited to know I have 2 more expansions and more game modes coming my way. Well done.

    Cheers and Thanks!

Also; anyone interested, check out these guys on YouTube (below). They play the game the right way and I hope some of community can appreciate the work they have done.

Lets face it ... The Division set the bar for a realistic depiction of a living & photo realistic environment and Wildlands pushed that bar even higher.

I'm guilty of taking far too many screenshots during a sunset or sunrise when I find myself on a mountain or by an old monument in the game and honestly, in this game just like The Division I am more than happy to wander about with no real direction, just collecting random items or encountering random occurrences the Dev team have put in there (like the man hiding in the roof AC Ducts in The Division, or finding the hidden idols in Wildlands).

Hmmm … hidden idols? I don’t remember coming across any of those yet, I need to check that out. Are they collectibles?

And yes, the GRW environment is absolutely fantastic and as a result I typically hike my team to most of the mission objectives and targets just to appreciate the landscapes.

Edit: Okay I did a little research. Finding all 8 hidden totems and then returning to the location of totem #1 will unlock worshippers at each of the locations. Neat little Easter Egg hunt.

Hey, I'm even fascinated that they went to the trouble of modelling SHOPS! Butchers, general stores etc .... I mean, I'd be thinking twice about buying meat from the butchers here (no refrigeration, nothing covered) but still...details details everywhere!

Well since you appreciate the level design, head over here and check out some of the uploads from the level designers for the game:

If you click on one of the images, they will usually load a gallery of more than just one.

    enjoy!

    Here are some examples:

You're right! The world was designed beautifully. Huge kudos to the Dev team! The only thing missing in my book is environmental destruction, ie buildings, walls, fences, cratering on the ground, etc. Overall a great job, though!

I agree, the world is amazing and feels very natural. I have no idea how they built those forests and such. Terrain changes, everything is randomly natural.
