I'd seen this on Day 1 and nobody has brought it up, so I think it's time to get some feedback on this subject.
I'd like to point out that being able to "mark" enemies in PvP kinda defeats the purpose of taking advantage of gillie suits. Or the ability to be able to move to another location after a firefight.
Furthermore instead of being mindful, approaching an area slowly and keeping an eye out, marking enemies would make it a lot more easier.
I'm basing this off the trailer which can be found here, which is the official year 1 content trailer released by Ubisoft.

What are your thoughts?
I think is because of the drone maybe?
In all previous GR games you had the drone and you could see them, they either need to destroyed the drone or get out of the view range
I really hope is not like a single player mark thing....i have more concerns with the PVP than this, i wouldve like to create a post about it, but i think is useless because pvp is already finished.
PvP may be finished but we can still voice our concerns and opinions and hope that they release a challenging and rewarding PvP experience. People have already suggested to have more than 4v4. If the playerbase is there they will continuously expand and improve the PvP game mode.Originally Posted by LoneSpymaster Go to original post
I'm sure the player numbers have already started to decline, if they want to make sales through micro-transactions, the PvP mode is the bread and butter to keep the player numbers up. And if they're going to offer a mickey-mouse child's play experience, I don't think many people will be interested.
I am with shicic on where it really depends on how they are doing this. The "marking" of enemies in PvP is a good way in such a tactical setting to share enemy positions when over the mic communication is little to none.
I personally feel the tag should immediately go away if the spotter is killed and no other teammate landed eyes on the marked enemy. And it should go away once los is broken. But this does bring up the point about ghille suits and visual cover that a normal player would not be able to see past. I think a work around this is shots fired. Once you see an enemy, you would either need to fire to engage the tag or press a particular button with your crosshair ON the enemy. This would prevent an exploit of just spamming the button while moving your screen side to side.
I would hate to see flying drones in PvP personally, and this would open the d-pad for a "tagging" button to be mapped in it's place.
Oh and totally forgot to comment - when viewing that trailer, it did not dawn on me about the area they are in. Literally during the mission of meeting the general, I couldn't stop thinking how badass of a PvP zone that lumber yard would be...and it is in the trailer! so stoked and hope the map makes it through to the release.
Well, instead having an actual mark on top of players which would follow them around, you could mark a wall, tree or area to get your squads attention to the spot you marked. Where an enemy could be hiding.
Yes, drones, especially explosive drones would be a drainer.
Here are some examples of marking a spot in Ghost Recon Phantoms...

IMHO, marking has no business in pvp mode. We need a TACTICAL 3rd person shooter that makes you have to think your way around a map. Socom on the ps2 did it better than everyone. I don't want to be led to A and B, nor do i want to shoot at a red circle. I had high hopes for this multiplayer but marking enemies in pvp will put that fire out real fast.
True, I do like that tagging system - but at the same time having legit eyes on an enemy is different from tagging an area where one "may" be. I believe they should be implemented for the most tactical awareness.
if players want to play without a hud in PvP like they can in single player, then having eyes on a user (firing at enemy, or pressing a button with your crosshair over them and the tag only being active while LOS is not broken) allows the same visual cue that the minimap would have provided (this happens in almost all shooters, but not everyone actually remembers to use the minimap for this).
It is for those reasons I would not mind a well made tagging system that allows the tagging of structures/areas of potential enemies, but also a tag of the actual individual while line of sight is not hindered.
As someone else mentioned, a hardcore mode of some sort that does not allow the use of tagging would make it optional for players to partake in or not while keeping the playing field level (silly to have a mix of players using tags and others not using them as you can have in regular Coop).
But if it comes down to tagging being there for everything or tagging not there at all - I am most definitely for no tagging at all. But a well made system can work well while still being fun.
