I'm on the story mission where you have to sneak into the underground base and hack the server. Doing it full stealth. I get to a point where a UNIDAD guard is patrolling on the other side of a fuel tank. He somehow sees me through the tank (though he is standing and I cannot see his head). I go prone and see his lower body from the waist down. I aim my submachine gun at this legs, and... the bullets do not hit him. Instead, the fuel tank lights on fire and I blow up. Nice. Please, if I can see underneath a tank, I should be able to shoot underneath the fuel tank and not have the rounds register as hits on the tank. Folks, am I being unreasonable?
That's GR:W for you. Get full stealth on & some POS thing ruins it.
Try shooting between rails on a fence to kill a target, poof the rail blocks shot, instant engaged.
Miracle "steel" twigs that ricochet your bullets, poof instant engaged.
Instantly spawning cars, trucks, helicopters that see you in a second, instant engaged.
Targets that you shoot 3 or 4 times right in the chest, yet don't die, and instantly engage you.
Many other BS things that ruin "stealth".
GR:W for you....
cry some more, leaf do affect bullet trajectory in real life, google a bit, the fence is kinda BS specially heavy rifle, but it only offeset the bullet a bit, maybe more depending on distance, i only shoot through fences around 50 m, so maybe farther away the bullet moves off aim more.Originally Posted by KenKoerperich Go to original post
The problem OP is refering is hit marks, becoouse while he see a perfect round tank, the game is actually square, and they use tricks to get that round shape so if affect less on rendering of geometry, but the game still sees it as a block, and that is how it calculates hit points. They problably didnt do acurated hit marks to safe resources, its a big world after all
There are obviously rough edges in GRW that could use smoothing. I guess this is a price for open world game where you can go anywhere and do anything you desire. There are some assets that are broken, some meshes that are impenetrable and areas you can crawl under or through even if they visually look large enough. One perfect example is grenade launcher and its inability to penetrate any foliage. Projectile will explode on contact with small bush, tree branches and other similar objects while bullets can perfectly penetrate those.
bladerj, you make good points and thanks for the explanation on square shapes being rendered as round. That makes a lot of sense and I get that trade-offs have to be made for such a large open world.Originally Posted by bladerj Go to original post
For fences, I agree with your comment. A chain link fence in the real world will deflect even a high caliber round enough so that it misses the target. So that is how I rationalized that a sniper round would not hit my target on the other side of a fence, but shooting in full auto with an assault rifle works since a few rounds make it through and one or two rounds is all that is needed.
That would be an interesting test. I've only shot car tires with sniper rifles or semi auto assault (to prevent escapes). Usually if I am interested in taking out the whole car, I haven't been trying to avoid the occupants...Originally Posted by Cothes Go to original post![]()
