What Happens if You Try to Defeat UNIDAD Forces... by Force.

    Hey Buddies

Well, I had enough of Unidad and decided, after a simple Antenna side mission that landed me right inside one of their base, to stand up against them and fight them till death.
And see if we can actually defeat Unidad Forces, by force.

    The following is what happened.

This battle lasted for well over 1 hour real time of constant fighting, and nearly 24 hours in game time.
With at most 10 seconds between each waves of reinforcements (either choppers or armored cars, or both), I did not count how many I had to face and eliminate, I did not count the number of vehicles and attack helicopters they deployed either. But as you will see in the video below, it's plenty !

Maybe too many even. They refused to give up. But so did I.

At some point the game had spawned so many, unlimited, waves of enemies, cars and helicopters, that it impacted the performances, framerate, even the AI, of the game itself. It is definitely not programmed or planned that you would survive an extended fight with the Unidad Forces.

This shouldn't be like this, Ubisoft, not only for performances reasons but also for immersion sake, and gameplay wise.
How many soldiers can Unidad sacrifice for defending a single Base ?
How many "Apaches" attack helicopters do they have at disposal ??
How much is their deal with Santa Blanca actually worth ???

Let's say they had a good deal on many helicopters, alone they are still worth around 10 Millions US dollars each ! That's probably the largest fleet in the world at this point.

You should be able to defeat them after a certain number of reinforcements. They shouldn't come back that quick each time either. They should give up at some point, seeing it's not worth fighting. They shouldn't be sending the equivalent of the yearly US military budget after you just for one base, a few US soldiers and Rebels.
After hundreds of human losses, and hundreds of millions US dollars lost, you either bomb the place, or retreat.
This would just be a lore-friendly explaination, but this would also be a way to avoid the drop of performances of the game if you ever find yourself in a similar situation.

I'm not sure what to think about this not even be programmed in the game. I would call that lazy programming, but I don't want you to take this as an insult. It isn't and it isn't the point of this thread.

The point being, there should have a limit programmed into the game.
Because the way it is now isn't immersive, or realistic, or lore-friendly, plus it impacts the game on a technical level. Which I'm sure is a primary concern for the developpers.

Here is the video of the Battle. I post it mostly as "evidence" of what I'm talking about.
It's 1 hour long of constant combat (can be entertaining for some :P ). I understand if you don't watch it don't worry, tho I would advice at least watching the first minute to get a quick overview of the aftermath.
Please note that a certain number of destroyed vehicles have despawned, and that each blood staine on the ground was a Unidad soldier killed.

For the record, I play on Extreme difficulty, with a PS4 controller and no aim assist.
And was level 22 at the time of recording.

    Thank you for your attention

Wow, quite the long haul you signed up for!

Thanks for posting about this and sharing the findings of your research! It was really sad to see it all end the way it did, valiant effort for sure.

I'll make a note in my report about the performance issues and your feedback!

I fought them off this weekend, but I eventually killed them fast enough the alert went away. You can one shot the Helo's and Vehicles with the HTI. So I got into a position where I could kill them before they unloaded. Get the timing right and you can kill all of them and the alert stops.

I had this happening too, but I don't count this as defeating them by force. You basically shortcut the alerts, defeating them by speed you could say

I just did the antenna battle tonight. I like the fact they keep coming. I take cover in the armory for unlimited ammo and go for it. I place mines between waves call mortar strikes. I get KIA by the Blackhawks fighting them with the Stoner LMG.

I feel like you shouldn't be able to take down helicopters so easily. A grenade launcher I can see, but even with the world's most powerful sniper rifle, you shouldn't be able to one shot a helo unless you hit the driver or detach the propeller from the body. Just unrealistic to me

I also think that when the alert level gets to a certain point, you should be forced to either withdraw or die because this isn't GTA5 and 4 guys shouldn't be able to take on a small army of elite soldiers single handedly, especially on extreme which is suppose to be the realism mode

I'd say with anti material rifles like the HT1 then it's realistic for it to take down a chopper in one shot, DEPENDING on placement of the shot. It won't make it explode on contact like they do in wild lands, but those Kiowa's are powered by a single turbine, a 50 cal to the powerplant would do the trick. Or even enough damage to the cowlings near the intakes would send shrapnel into the engines and **** em up. Maybe not take em down but they'd take off for sure. Or to one of the shafts, maybe a gearbox. As for the blackhawks and cobras, those are powered By two turbines a piece but some thing. Keep in mind helicopters are just thin sheet metal pretty much, and everything is made to be lightweight as possible so their not impervious to small arms fire.

    LOL....

You don't think it's realistic that a full military force would endlessly send troops and equipment against you, but you don't find it unrealistic that you and 3 guys could hold off a said military force with only small arms? ....js...

I actually think it becomes way to easy to take down choppers and vehicles. I think there should be certain locations that when hit, can disable a vehicle or aircraft, but once you get certain weapons and certain upgrades, things just get way too Michael Bay easy.

Whole point of Unidad is to force you into retreating and stealth. You should not be able to win battle against Unidad.

There is, however, a problem with Unidad implementation. Their bases are just like normal SB camps, ensure alarms are destroyed before engaging, where even if alerted you can clear it by brute force. On the other hand, patrols and patrol alert system is just broken. Alert level raises fast and reinforcements are arriving way too fast. There should be a limit of how many reinforcements can come in certain time frame. Alert level should not be increased by simply killing Unidad unit but for such unit being engaged in combat for certain amount of time. This would allow you to focus fire specific enemies to prevent further reinforcements rather than ignore them and kill SB or run away.
