What Happens if You Try to Defeat UNIDAD Forces... by Force.
Hey Buddies
Well, I had enough of Unidad and decided, after a simple Antenna side mission that landed me right inside one of their base, to stand up against them and fight them till death.
And see if we can actually defeat Unidad Forces, by force.
The following is what happened.
This battle lasted for well over 1 hour real time of constant fighting, and nearly 24 hours in game time.
With at most 10 seconds between each waves of reinforcements (either choppers or armored cars, or both), I did not count how many I had to face and eliminate, I did not count the number of vehicles and attack helicopters they deployed either. But as you will see in the video below, it's plenty !
Maybe too many even. They refused to give up. But so did I.
At some point the game had spawned so many, unlimited, waves of enemies, cars and helicopters, that it impacted the performances, framerate, even the AI, of the game itself. It is definitely not programmed or planned that you would survive an extended fight with the Unidad Forces.
This shouldn't be like this, Ubisoft, not only for performances reasons but also for immersion sake, and gameplay wise.
How many soldiers can Unidad sacrifice for defending a single Base ?
How many "Apaches" attack helicopters do they have at disposal ??
How much is their deal with Santa Blanca actually worth ???
Let's say they had a good deal on many helicopters, alone they are still worth around 10 Millions US dollars each ! That's probably the largest fleet in the world at this point.
You should be able to defeat them after a certain number of reinforcements. They shouldn't come back that quick each time either. They should give up at some point, seeing it's not worth fighting. They shouldn't be sending the equivalent of the yearly US military budget after you just for one base, a few US soldiers and Rebels.
After hundreds of human losses, and hundreds of millions US dollars lost, you either bomb the place, or retreat.
This would just be a lore-friendly explaination, but this would also be a way to avoid the drop of performances of the game if you ever find yourself in a similar situation.
I'm not sure what to think about this not even be programmed in the game. I would call that lazy programming, but I don't want you to take this as an insult. It isn't and it isn't the point of this thread.
The point being, there should have a limit programmed into the game.
Because the way it is now isn't immersive, or realistic, or lore-friendly, plus it impacts the game on a technical level. Which I'm sure is a primary concern for the developpers.
Here is the video of the Battle. I post it mostly as "evidence" of what I'm talking about.
It's 1 hour long of constant combat (can be entertaining for some :P ). I understand if you don't watch it don't worry, tho I would advice at least watching the first minute to get a quick overview of the aftermath.
Please note that a certain number of destroyed vehicles have despawned, and that each blood staine on the ground was a Unidad soldier killed.
For the record, I play on Extreme difficulty, with a PS4 controller and no aim assist.
And was level 22 at the time of recording.
Thank you for your attention
