This post is a work in progress and I will be fairly-regularly adding my personal suggestions; if my schedule allows enough time
Hi Ghosts. I'm a huge fan of this game. Let's get that out of the way first. Of course, it isn't without its bugs but what game releases with 0 glitches or bugs in the present time anyway?
Anyhow, these don't bother me as much as some of the flat, basic, and overall just boring and lifeless animations in the game. I understand these may or may not be updateable or changeable, however if this is at all possible, I'd like to share my ideas.
1. Addition of more stealth/violent takedown animations
Specifically in the form of or of the likeness of:
- Combat knife animations (What special operations soldier isn't proficiently trained in CQC combat outside of hand-to-hand and weapons training?)
this should've been in the base game to begin with, in my opinion...
-IE. back stabs - throat cuts, abdomen stabs etc.
2. I've read this one on a post somewhere else... Animation canceling and animation fluidity.
- The ability to cancel out of animations and/or addition of more varied animations across the board. This could mean, grabbing HVTs, entering/exiting vehicles (leaving door open for cover) etc. Why do doors close automatically when doing a quick emergency evac. in the first place?
-animation fluidity meaning, less "sliding" when entering vehicles, more natural-looking animations overall
3. Combat sliding (a reason for having knee pads in the first place)
-I was honestly surprised at the lack of entering/exiting cover animation in the initial launch of the game.
-combat slides don't necessarily need to be tied to entering or exiting the "cover" system in game. However, it could more or less just be a more efficient and immersive way to enter crouched position or even prone (slide on both knees then prone)
- we see enemy ai slide and enter cover dynamically. why limit that to npcs?
4. Hiding/relocating deceased enemies.
-akin to the metal gear series, I feel that this should be a necessity, given that enemy ai are aware of dead bodies.
-the current system limits close quarters infiltrations to an almost inviable option.
5. More HUD/Audio customization options.
-diversity/complexity of HUD element customization; ability to hand-pick "marker" HUD elements (removal of Enemy location markers/in depth marker customization)
I may have more suggestions for HUD customization later...
-a big one for a lot of people here: Option to disable/enable hit markers and the audio cue coinciding with hitting an enemy with bullets AND explosions.
6. Helicopter Fast Roping and Rappelling.
-self explanatory
7. Reload animation fixes/tweaks.
- there's one main problem with the reloading animation. When you load a fresh mag into a gun with an empty chamber, that realistically requires pulling the action lever to chamber a round. However, The action lever does NOT need to be pulled EVERY time you reload. The only time it should be animated as such is when a guns magazine has been completely emptied AND there is no round in the chamber. But, if you reload, or change out a magazine BEFORE you completely empty the gun OR when there is one bullet left in the chamber, you DO NOT need to pull the action lever when you reload. I hope you guys can understand this and fix this. This is a very basic and easy to understand concept when it comes to firearms and should be easily implemented in all modern shooter games.
What do you guys think? Are you satisfied with the overall animations in the game? Do you think if this is possible, please if you know anything about game development/patching, do you think addition like this are possible or are animations "locked" in the code of the game. I hadn't even thought about the sliding animations or anything! I think it was Ghost Recon Future Soldier that had your character slide down on their knees and drop to their stomach if you held crouch while sprinting. Something like that would be fantastic!
Also I'm pretty sure they're adding knife takedowns soon. There was an image going around of one of their season pass pictures on steam that had a ghost taking down Unidad with a knife
