I just started another playthrough because my achievments for the assault and sniper rifles did not unlock. My question is do I have to play through the boss missions again to get the achievment? Or can I just go around and collect the weapon cases?

If you have been unable to unlock a Fanatic achievement, please make sure you have collected all weapons from all weapon cases. This is achieved by finishing all provinces 100% and from killing all the bosses. Once this has been completed, your achievement should unlock.
