Hey Ubisoft, i have a "revolutionary" idea. For once, allow us to mod/fix a game!

Honestly it's mind-boggling to me how in 2017 Ubi**** still hasn't caught on with other developers who have so much more interaction with their community, who allow their playerbase to mod the game to their taste and to have a decent rate at which patches roll out.

I see nothing but threads begging for more realism, player customization, much needed bugfixes yet what we get is very meager patches, ridiculously priced and downright stupid clothing skins and guns that aren't customizable and look like nerf guns oh yeah don't forget the upcoming Monster truck racing dlc with content that was already made before the actual game even was released.

As someone who was looking forward for years to the next itteration of Ghost recon-with moderate expectation since Ubi is famous for half-assing games ridden with microtransactions- i was very disappointed in the closed beta but i had some hope they could fix some stuff before closed beta or release. That didn't happen, barely anything changed between beta and release and bugs that were in the closed beta are still in the game today.

So at this point in my opinion the only thing that could fulfill this games potential (which is huge) are mods. I know Ubisoft for some reason still hasn't realized that mods are a very good thing for your game and will gain you money but they should at least try it once. Give players the ability to add custom 3d models and tweak ballistics, physics etc to their taste because the game needs it and the playerbase will rapidly decline at the rate these ****ty patches roll out.

Get your **** together Ubisoft and work hard to keep this from the long list of ****ty games you have made.

Not sure how they feel about modding in their games these days. The last time I did any with one of their games was HAWX1 and it was a real headache. By the time I finished with it, I didn't even feel like playing the game anymore. I'm not even sure that mod still exists LOL
I rarely mod anymore, anyway unless the devs provide the tools.

All that aside, I know there are a lot of games out there with modding communities that really keep those games alive. It's really nice to see what others come up with as long as it doesn't break the game.

The Thing That's Cool About The Steam Modding Community Is Developers Can Pick and Choose Mods to Evaluate and Implement.
To Each Company Their Own, but Some Companies have used it to take on whole new features and game modes.
Would be Interesting if They Took it on for sure. +1

In theory yes, in practice not likely. They would have to create some kind map editing program that is controller compatible for the console users it would probably be too much hassle for them.

I don't think ubisoft wants to allow modding simply because if you look at rainbow six for example. A lot of the money coming in is from character and weapon skins that they are selling to people. If they allow mods people can just mod those skins or even "Cooler" skins into the game and not have to pay for them. It takes away from their online market.

Being a modder myself I would be interested to see it happen but the likeliness of it seems fairly unlikely.

I agree to 100% that mods would be awesome for this game and make it one of the best games around. Look at Fallout games or Arma games. With mods, you can do anything in these titles. And everything is something Ghost Recon Wildlands needs, because it lacks so damn many basic things.

I understand your concerns but your arguments are irrelevant, just look at all the different multiplayer mods arma has. Plenty of games have done multiplayer modding right, this is nothing new.

Mods are perfect for a game like GRW

    But

It seems counter-intuitive for Ubisoft as a business plan

Ubisoft has been recently been moving towards gameplay centric sandboxes that have a strong "live" component, social play and lots of post-purchase content. Siege, For Honor and GRW come to mind.

They introduced this strategy with the AC games and are now really pushing it with their new releases.

IMO...Ubisoft sees GRW as a game with legs - and it won't be completely wrong - its a 4 player super accessible sandbox....with PvP coming in soon. They will be drip feeding content like Skins, weapons, costumes etc. throughout the year to keep the community engaged.

When you add modding into the mix, Ubi's ability to create exclusive, sellable content is diminished. They can't release Russian Partizan camo as a micro DLC because a mod team just made a massive 100 camo pack for free which includes above camo.

It'd be great if we could mess about with the AI, meshes, skins and add in new elements....but I sincerely doubt we'll get that.

How many are there who are capable of "truly" mod? It did not go so well for GRAW series when it was pretty advanced for most gamers, and today is much more advanced, that also requires other software that costs more than the majority can afford to purchase legally.
And scripts that are open to anyone, has never led to anything good anyway.
