Holding zone (apparently I did something wrong)

I had a game of dominion playing as a Warden earlier on, first stage of the game, I and a Valkyrie on our team ran over to the far zone and captured it,she went off, I stayed. In fact I stayed and kept staying while most of the action was taking place in the other contested zone. I am not an afk farmer, I make sure I move about the whole time so that the game considers me active , in my view I was both adding points every second and on the three or four occasions one of the other team came by, they found themselves dead. The zone belonged to my team the entire game.

Halfway through the game, two members of my own team came over and started swinging their weapons at me, I am guessing because they were pretty ticked off at what I was doing. While at times there were all seven of the other players in the other zone, I actually top scored for my team (460 or so). it's not the first time this has happened so am I breaking some kind of unspoken rule?

No KEEP doing that. I'm tired of fighting with lemmings on my team. Where points and zones are ignored and even the front just to get a kill. I'm too the point where I just wanna chuck my controller through the TV because of the sheer stupidity of some people.

I've said this many times. Humans.....are........so...damn......stupid. It makes me cry.

Yeah they probably assumed incorrectly that you were AFK farming them.

Instead of defending the point like a boss, which I have done and is a perfectly legitimate strategy.

My friend did some number-crunching though and he determined the greatest source of points in a dominion is simply to keep pushing the soldier line, since dropping enemy soldiers like flies apparently racks up the points even faster.

But staying and defending a zone from enemy intrusion is still a good way to do things, I think.

Well if you're afking....why would you be doing it on a zone? Better yet on the enemy zone? It would make no sense. If you're gona afk the whole match better off just staying in the spawn point. I think they were pissed you didn't help fight....which.....is debatable.

Yeah some people just don't think.

The zone is a terrible place to AFK farm considering that opponents will be coming to challenge you if they want that zone. lol

I've won games on just holding the front alone and killing minions all day. Some people will just flat out ignore you (or they don't see you) and just go.

I was in a match today where half my team was down (me and some other random) and we were breaking. We just broke too. So the enemy didn't have enough points to keep us breaking. All someone had to do was go cap a zone and we would have come back. What did they do? Go fight the enemy on a boosted zone. We ended up losing shortly after since nobody had the brains to just go cap a point and bring us back oh no.....those 5 points for a hero kill was just too much to pass up.

I tend to hold zone in general, sometimes more successfully than others. I am the one that doesn't charge out of a zone the moment they are breaking to the point I will abuse revenge, banners and second wind when I play Warden (and bear in mind I had to get to third and fourth tier for that). A raider had me dead to rights but until we reached 1100 (we only had my zone) I was shameless in that, pretty sure it wound him up somewhat as three second winds later I executed him.

But that occasion in my op, I really wasn't going to move, we were keeping pace with them on that alone and I have seen teams go700-50 down because they are running into and dying in a mass battle while the middle and other zone are empty.

Yeah people get real pissed you dont want to follow the Orochi running back to his team. I play LB so Im rather big and slow. I will stand on the farthest point we push to. If we dont then I will stand on the point closest to us and boost it and stop anyone thinking of backdooring it. This is how you win dominion. This is not elimination. Killing people over and over while not holding your points does nothing for you.

Defending the zone you own is a great way to play. I play a Valkyrie and I have one word for you all :

    TRAPS.

Well placed next to an entry to the zone that is next to an environnement hazard, I've seen many players run back and go alllllll the way around to reach my zone. Great way to waste their time. A well placed trap can also lead to nice leap attacks.

I was in a zone so long as a Valk once I trapped both entry points into the zone I was in, the same player tripped both of them, one coming in, the other trying to escape when breaking.
