I don't get the negativity. I have played 10+ hrs of videogames a week for 32 years now. MOST of that time was with my brother, and since the internet became prevalent, with my cousin as well. We haven't had this much playing a game together in years. It is a damned near perfect co-op experience at hardest difficulty and hud removed. Our ability to improvise fun and challenging scenarios within the confines of this sandbox more than makes up for a few bugs (I can't recall a single open-world game without bugs). I respectfully and wholeheartedly disagree with those who are underwhelmed by this offering, but I understand that taste is subjective.
