There are things in games that should be challenging and should alter game play.
Nowhere does it say you should be able to fly around the map without a challenge.
If there is a bug where SAMS lock on after landing, that should be fixed.
The SAMS make flying fun and interesting, and challenging at times. That is a good thing.
Flying low is a tactic intended to avoid SAMs. There appears to be an issue with SAMs targeting players even after they landed, let alone flying low. People are not making this up, i certainly dont have a reason to.Originally Posted by UbiPhobos Go to original post
All though dodging missiles has a fun factor, the majority of the time im trying to reach a certain destination. When flying low fails due to poor gaming mechanics, and i dont feel like playing with missiles, i try to avoid it. What i dont expect is for ubisoft to consider this is an appropriate fix.
I see it the opposite way: The game is already dull enough with free flying for the most part.
The repetition in game play is rather uninspired: Do mission, call standard chopper from rebel support, fly to next mission.
What happens?
-You totally dont need the other transportation
-You strip yourself or variety
-You basically ignore the terrain and its properties.
-It diminishes the open world feel as you just cross large parts of the open world with no incident
-Your general flow turns from "I am a elite soldier" into "I am a helicopter taxi driver"
So I totally see it the opposite way: Restrict chopper drops. Restrict available of high value transportation. Promote the use of other vehicles. Incorporate a system that makes you evaluate what vehicle to use. Make terrain matter. Make the world matter in the way you go from mission to mission.
Many will tell you that you can perfectly avoid SAMs anytime and anywhere but truth is there are areas where you are simply not supposed to use helicopters or planes. Provinces without story missions are often heavily populated by Unidad units that have SAM sites pretty much everywhere. Santa Blance has SAM sites only in crucial areas to prevent access that would trivialize certain missions.
It is good practice to navigate your helo/plan through canyons or near mountain ranges, which can provide protection from SAMs if need be. You can ignore enemy foot soldiers and their aggro notifications as they do not matter nor they can seriously endanger you--you should try to avoid attention of enemy flying units as they can be seriously annoying, especially if you flying slow plan with no guns.
How do SAM sites distinguish between friendly or enemy helicopters and airplanes? I mean, we don't go flying around dragging a "SHOOT ME NOW" banner...Originally Posted by Phienyx Go to original post
EDIT: There should be a mechanic where if you're flying over a restricted airspace, you get contacted by radio to identify yourself. If you don't, or if you fail to be properly identified, you get SAMs up your tailpipe...
