Like for real, the ps4pro can handle this in 60 fps...no problem.
1v1 and 2v2 should be 60 fps no problem on all consoles. No reason to tie down all modes to 30.
rank mode should come with 60 fps. Better not be locked 30.
Other games now offer options like "Movie Mode" and "Performance Mode" one is higher resolution the other is 60fps. There is a thing called dynamic resolution for this sort of thing. Please dont lock down 30 fps bc of Dominion/Skirmish. If you want this to be an E-SPORT it HAS to be 60 in 1v1 and 2v2 MODES!
RANK mode NEEDS to come with 60 fps, Spectator mode, Button Re-assignment, and Deadzone Scaler for controllers.
the graphics are not good enough to lock it to 30. I seen better games in resolution/stuff going on get 60 just fine. Anyways, the case is in 1v1 and 2v2. Which every console is strong enough to handle. and that's where e-sports will head. dynamic resolution, or making 1v1/2v2 only 60 should be easily done. If they don't it wont make major headway with e-sports. A fighting game meant for a competitive being locked at 30 will kill your scene.
You're not one of the devs, so I'm pretty sure you cannot know if For Honor can run at 60fps on consoles (let alone consistently, which is key). But hey, this could just be me talking out of my ***...lol.Originally Posted by truecoins Go to original post
a gtx 1050 can run the game at over 70 frames per second with all maxed in 1080p........... im sure a ps4 can with reduced gfx.Originally Posted by truecoins Go to original post
On Xbox One the Unreal Engine 4 moves Gears of War 4 multiplayer at solid 60fps, even if there are graphical compromises to achieve such a feat.Originally Posted by Thief183 Go to original post
I'm just saying that it is possible for a modern game to reach 60fps on current consoles. Without knowing how Anvil Engine is implemented and how For Honor leverages it, I can't say if THIS particular game can reach 60fps. :-)
Are you saying the engine might be the limitation? Or the graphics are too good? I dont see how it cannot be done in the 1v1/2v2 modes. I would understand their logic in 4v4 dominion do to the soldiers, ai and 4v4 could be held back by non PRO/4K consoles. But there's not much going on in the smaller modes. Which is where the competitive scene will be and having all modes be 30fps because of 4v4 would be a major mistake if they want the game to survive for a while.Originally Posted by NeoLocutus Go to original post
4v4 is a fun distraction but it doesnt need 60fps in order to survive, The smaller modes do.
As I said, without knowing how the engine and the game are implemented we can only speculate.Originally Posted by truecoins Go to original post
Honestly, graphics are wonderful but I won't define it too good (I agree with you on this point), with "too good" = "too complex to handle".
About the engine, For Honor uses AnvilNext 2.0 that is the same engine leveraged by Assassin's Creed Unity and Syndicate. While Syndicate runs (a lot) better than Unity, it still had some hiccups and framerate drops here and there. Maybe Anvil is not optimized enough or maybe it just doesn't scale too well.
I agree. Only a small part of the map should be rendered at high details with particles, weather effects, map physics, etc. enabled, along with two heroes. It shouldn't be too difficult to reach 60fps.Originally Posted by truecoins Go to original post
I don't think those puny soldiers are too much of a problem. Sure, they are a lot and they may take a toll on the system memory (each soldier is basically an object and objects occupy memory), but their physics (movement, collision detection, damage detection) and AI (their behaviour on the battlefiled) are very trivial and thus they shouldn't be too taxing for the GPU.Originally Posted by truecoins Go to original post
