And million times this. Coop is so rare these days outside of a few racked on modes and missions.

The fact my friends and I could play this when game coop is the biggest reason we bought it. And cos we only play it together we're all at the exact same point in terms of progression.

More games need full coop. And so many of them would be miles better with coop. Just cause 3 with coop would be insane. Single player gets stale fast.

Things like Watchdogs 2 and black list and unity had a few coop missions tacked on but it just tacked on stuff not the actual games story.
The lack of proper coop in watchdogs 2 for example is the main reason I didn't buy it.

The bit that gets me though is how many single player games involve multiple characters. Uncharted 4. Last of us. Gta5. Etc etc all of which would have been amazing with coop. but the game developers never seem to add it for some reason.

If you go on your own to do whatever and leave them behind, they will follow you, but don't expect them to read your thoughts or anticipate your moves, because they won't. The ability to give individual orders sounds good, though, but is it really necessary? Practice your leadership skills and you'll see that the AI are very reliable...
Dude.... leadership skills?! Let me tell you, I've tested this AI extensively.

The ONLY times they will actively defend themselves is when they are set to FOLLOW YOU.

So, you're in a firefight, the enemy are "Engaged" -- so no more stealth and you are shooting at that enemy. IF the Team AI are told to HOLD a position. They will just sit there! Then Enemy walk right up to them, shooting them, and they will do NOTHING..............

I've tested their reactiveness in defending themselves in a firefight with every single command.

The MOVE command is very hit and miss. If told to move during a fire fight, whilst they're moving they will return fire, however once they get to that position they seem to lapse into a coma and are very unwilling to fire back even if fired upon.

Now here's the kicker -- IF you give them the FIRE command, then all hell breaks loose and they will now fire back... Great, at least they're firing back! But only now, they start running around like blood crazed Lunatics. They don't seem to move carefully or tactically.

You lose all tactical control. It's chaos.

So yeah. The Team AI DOESNT function properly currently.

Not being able to SYNC SHOT with no hud is very frustrating and needs to be fixed. What i'd like to see is the VOICE commands like first SOCOM for PS2 had and i'm sure they can add this feature with a few individual controls as well.

Still waiting for my friend to purchase... And there's no guarantee he will.

This is why I think Ubisoft or any developer is wrong to prioritise coop over singleplayer -- because those who have to or prefer singleplayer get short changed!

Unless you have friends that also want to get the game you are out of luck - because playing with randoms, (as everyone knows) especially with a game that emphasises team work, is complete rubbish!

I don't know why Ubisoft seem unaware of this fact?

Playing with Randoms is NOT fun.
Yep, If you look at the poll on here the vast majority of players are playing solo with around 1/4 playing co-op.

🙄 ....... yep, that was my point.

If an RPG (which is NOT a Tactical shooter) can manage it, giving tactical individual commands to squad mates, and it works -- then surely a tactical military shooter can do it!!!

    That's my point...

    There you go....

So therefore, we got short changed.

Remember last time I joined my irl friend's game in open beta. Those three guys, while playing "deserter" mission where you have to catch cartel deserter and escort him back, just rushed to the site, and shot everything while shot the escort target in the process. Obviously, the mission is a failure, and they were confused.

"What happened? I shot that guy." some one asked. "I don't know" says another guy, "this game is glitchy as f." I just stayed silent and observed their actions, and wanted to figure out for how many retires they can figure out what the mission requires them to do.

You know what? 5 times. They repeatedly shot that guy five times, before they actually read the mission log and realized that they should "escort" that guy instead of "assassinate" that guy.

Never joined their game ever since.

Exactly. You just told them to hold position, to stay put. You didn't order them to fire.

In my game experience, the AI will do what you tell them to do explicitly. They will hold position when you tell them to, and they will fire at nearby enemies upon command. These orders you give are explicit, not ambiguous. "Hold" doesn't mean stay there and shoot at whatever passes near. Hold means hold, period. Follow means follow me. Fire means shoot at oncoming enemies.

A possible solution would be that the developers make the AI go in defense mode automatically when anyone in the team is being shot upon...

No a solution would be the ability to toggle WEAPONS FREE and RETURN FIRE ONLY --- like Rainbow 6 Vegas.

Part of the problem is as soon as you give FIRE command, they don't simply shoot back -- they run off like lunatics... you lose all tactical control of the battle field.

Even in Rainbow 6 -- when set to RETURN FIRE ONLY they would still defend themselves if shot at!!

It does not make ANY sense your AI Team have no sense of self preservation... To not do anything even if they are being shot...? I call that broken AI.

I mean that is not coded by design. They need to fix it....
