Yes please
No thank you
I think that we can all agree that after a bit of difficulty at first, parries become rather easy to land. When this happens, a decent player can easily parry almost any attack in the game, including light attacks. This makes for very stale dules where nobdy really does anything due to fear of being parried for a simple light attack. Honestly, its dumb that you have to do insane feint combos just to get a light attack off. This is especially hurting the heavier classes due to the nature of thier slower attacks. As a kensi main, its getting annoying having to always get parried with any attack that i do, unless i do a sidestep sweep when they attack. If timing a parry was made harder, it would solve the turtling meta and make fights more intense and less standoff-y. I'll leave a poll for you guys to vote on this.
This would be talking more directly towards the Kensei's. If they were to think about this idea in general terms for everybody then just think about how much of a nightmare it would be to try to parry a PeaceKeeper's quick slashes (even for heavies). If the Kensei got a little more of a speed boost? or maybe another way to open up the opponent with other tools?
That sounds pretty goodOriginally Posted by StrayDevilFox Go to original post
Every class should have a special follow up to opening after a parry, like happen today with the Assassin's Deflect, and the Assassins shouldn't be able to parry.
This would end a lot of problems.
We need parry/dodge/deflect as a tool it is today because of feint. Without those mechanics there is no feint, and without feint there is basicaly no openings. I think feint could have some attention too, as light attacks overall. We need more options to "break a shell" without punish the defender too much. We need make the defense be what it should be: a way to block damage, not a way to win.
And an off-topic (almost): as a Berserker main, I think Conqueror attacks should have a different behavior when parried/deflected. The Hero can't feint, for Odin's sake!
Assassins not being able to parry? So the deflect would be their sort of parry replacement?Originally Posted by Vingrask Go to original post
Here are the problems with that:
1. unblockables
2. Parries can get knockdowns when parry a exhausted opponent or when in revenge, deflect cannot.
3. you can parry multiple people, deflect cannot
4. feinting against an assassin who relies on deflect (the way ppl rely on parry) would be too strong. (Because of the system of "when someone dodges and you guard break it is a free uncounterable guardbreak". So it would just be right heavy>feint>assassin dodges to deflect>guardbreak>heavy.. assassins would get reckd lol)
So if they were to do that they would need to change a lot of things.
