Or at least, until a few things are patched.

Sooo, yeah. I generally don't post things in forums because I don't consider myself skilled enough to have a relevant opinion on game balance and stuff like that, but I think my feedback could adequately reflect what the "average guy" feels like playing For Honor.

To be honest, I've had a real blast when I bought this game. I spent countless hours - well, according to Uplay, 94 - on it and it's been mostly excellent until lately.

See, the problem I've encountered is a rather peculiar one: I got "too good". And by "too good", I don't mean I got too good for my opponents to prove a challenge, no. I mean that I got too good for what the game has to offer. I hit that specific spot where people start to understand that there's absolutely no reason to attack when you're not a Peacekeeper up against someone who has average reflexes and can't block your light attacks. The PKs I encountered stated that some people with inhuman reflexes can counter them, but I don't feel like taking crack to reach that level and I can't see myself spending 100+ hours of training into a game just because the devs thought it was hilarious to design a class in such a way that anyone who can beat it could probably apply for a fighter pilot program, and get in.

But enough with the PK for now. Let's talk about your typical duel.

This game has become more boring than climbing Hearthstone's ladder with a Pirate Warrior deck. Yes, it's that serious. People just staring at each other, reluctant to commit to anything but guard break attempts and whatever safe moves they have (hello shoulder bash, hello poleaxe push, hello headbutt) until someone makes a mistake, is dealt a heavy, and then everything resets and back to the staring contest you go.

I don't understand how the parry system was released as it is, because it's garbage. I won't repeat what's already been stated about the defensive meta; most posts are absolutely spot on and pinpoint the blatant flaws that this game has.

For Honor should not be some kind of weird wrestling game where 90% of your moveset aren't an option.

And by the way, give the Conq some love. It becomes a bit tedious to play a character who has half as many combos as the other classes. I mean, provided that their moves become relevant as well, because all I see is safe unblockable + guard break + heavy + safe unblockable + throw you into a wall + top heavy. That's about it.

This game could be so great, and yet I see people content with its current state. My latest (and last, until things change) duel was against a Lawbringer, and we literally did nothing but guard breaks + safe unblockables for 10 rounds, after which he told me "oh boy that was fun". It blows my mind; what fun is this? Where's the variety? Where are the combos?

Please, Ubisoft, do something.

PS: and either remove the healing when you're on your last bar or make the conq's heavy deal as much as damage as the other classes' because as things stand, it's frustratingly hard to kill off someone with the Conq. People just retreat after the heavy that would have killed them, had it come from another class, heal up, and come back for another go.
