Revenge Mode Triggering in 1v1 Fights

I had a thread way back when in the closed beta forum about this and have seen many people share my view and opinion. So now I am making this new thread and will likely continue to update this thread with new videos of revenge being triggered in 1v1 fights. Feel free to add your own videos and thoughts on this issue.

Revenge mode should never trigger in a 1v1 fight.

Here are 2 videos showing this:
(Don't post about counter plays or the reason someone got revenge or anything like that. No matter what you say, revenge triggering in a 1v1 fight is not a fair or balanced mechanic.)

(I am clearly better than this guy... 100%! He is losing the fight so what is he rewarded with? A fight changing buff!)

(I was struggling in this fight sure. I may have still lost the fight revenge or not, but that is not the point. A nice intense battle once again interrupted from the fight altering buff that is revenge.)

Again feel free to post your own videos of this occurrence or your thoughts.

Whoa, does revenge now spawn a backstabbing warlord? :-O I agree that needs nerfing!

On a more serious note, I agree revenge should be disabled in duels, but both your videos are from 4vs4, what did you expect.

You are missing the point. I am not only talking about 1v1 Duel mode. I am talking about any mode whether it be a 1v1 mode, 2v2 mode, or a 4v4 mode, whenever you are engaging in a fight with someone and no one else is around... Like you 2 are basically isolated (which is how elimination starts, everyone being in their own little 1v1 fights) revenge mode should not proc or be building up at all..

Totally agree on this. As long as you arent fighting against 2 or more opponents (One just standing around and watching should NOT count) Revenge shouldnt even build up. It just completly ruins the Battle. Both Players have to do their best plays, outsmart the enemy and think of ways to break through. But when someone got his Revenge Mode up and actually uses it (i had some cases where the other player was honorable enough to not use it) he just starts spaming his attacks while the other one trys to keep as much distance as possible.

    Best example: Warlord
Step 1: Block every incoming attack
    Step 2: Revenge Mode
Step 3: Spam your Heavy attacks like there's no tomorrow. Preferably with Full Revenge Mode Attack Stats so you make the best out of your spamming.

That way you would also have to think better about the gear you bring. Right now everyone just takes as much Revenge Stuff as possible into a 4v4 fight...
Well, maybe they shouldnt have put Revenge Mode Gain and Attack/Defense onto the same Item. That way, when using heroic gear, you cant not bring revenge gear to a fight.

Revenge should still build in 1v1 but a bit slower than it is now. I typically don't see revenge with someone above 30 percent health in a 1v1.

In fact in any evenly matched active fights (2v2, 3v3, 4v4) revenge should build pretty slowly. As soon as outnumbered though, it is on!!! The really annoying thing to me is when someone can pop revenge virtually back to back to back. It is rage inducing.

Simple tuning on the scaling would fix it.

Base revenge gain lowered, multipliers per additional foe increased.

    Voilà. Rocket science.

Back again with some more clips!

(Yes this was brawl, yes he could have had leftover revenge from the fight with the other guy. Again that does not matter cuz again (I have to keep reiterating this because people will still sit there and tell my it happened or how to counter play it) Because my point is, if you are not getting outnumbered the revenge meter should not build up.

Now once again revenge ruins another intense duel.....

I just don't understand how can anyone watch this and say its a balanced mechanic lol...

I've got more but I'll do a couple at a time. Please continue to discuss your thoughts thanks

I couldn't help but notice that almost all the videos you posted to support the argument are 4v4 modes and I feel that you may be forgetting something. In these modes, gear stats are enabled. This means that a player can have bonuses to revenge at higher level gearing. A 108 gear rating often has the advantage of gaining revenge faster and having it longer. This simple fact undermines the nature of the mechanic (which isn't well balanced to begin with). I think revenge in a 1v1 would be perfectly acceptable (owing to the fact that it has a triggering mechanic based on play) if they reworked its functioning. The issue I see revolves around the effects of revenge. You get an automatic parry on activation that has an added knockdown effect, all attacks become uninterruptible, you do more damage while taking less, have a hp shield, all throws or bashes knock the opponent down and you have unlimited stamina. This is far too much for what I suspect the intention was. I believe it was a mechanic to allow for a player who is corned and forced on the defensive to interrupt the aggressor and swing the momentum.

I agree 100%. If a fight is honorable (1v1) revenge should not be allowed to trigger. The modifier should be increased by each additional player attacking you (or each player within your vicinity). Even if you are in a 4v4 this should still take effect.
