I will say that I prefer Elimination over Brawl. I am also less honorable in Elimination. Too many times I got locked in a good duel with someone in Elimination only to realize too late that I'm the only one left and I'm about to get pummeled. Now I try to permanently eliminate people as quickly as possible. If I can't execute or enviro kill them then I have to stand there and guard the damn body. There is a good deal of strategy involved in Elimination. However, I do not like Skirmish.
There is indeed a community code in Brawl.
After kill your opponent, try enjoy your teammate fight. And a tip: if the enemy kill your teammate, make him/her run a little before engage, to avoid build revenge.
I like this honor code because it allow me see until where I can go with my skill. When I manage to kill both enemies in a round with almost no HP I feel good: two different enemies, two different behaviors.
And I like to watch someone else fighting too. There epic fights which are very enjoyable.
One of the things I like about brawl is that you never know for sure if your opponents (or teammate if you're not playing with a friend) will fight "honorably" to do whatever it takes to win. Sometimes I find it fun to play fair a couple rounds and then on the final round if I beat my opponent, come up behind my teammate's opponent and hit him in the back or throw him for a cheap environmental kill, then enjoy the "Wow!" spam.
I'm a pretty honorable person. I'll wait for my teammate to finish his fight. If he needed my help there is a ping for that and also a phrase to let you say "I got this" but no one seems to use it but me.
If I join in now I risk the enemy immediately getting revenge, now we both have to play defensively and by defensively I mean kick him to death till he's off the edge, into a wall so my teammate can hit him or kick him whenever he tries to hit my teammate.
Even when I wait for my teammate to win and he doesn't and now I attack him, he almost has his revenge meter at half if not almost full so now if I wait to see the duel I have to wait even longer so the revenge meter depletes which doesn't take long.
I don't mind either option, were are fighting for Honor not *With* Honor. But what I won't do is ring out players, I feel bad after I do it unless I counter GB them and they just happened to be close to the edge and fall off then it wasn't my fault SELF DEFENSE. I'm also a Nobushi main and I don't like getting that close to people so I rarely have the choice to GB them.
Personally, I find straight up 2v2s where everyone groups up attacking each other, more fun. It gives the 2v2s purpose in the form of you and your teammate against them versus you fight him and wait for them to fight. But 1v1's in brawls are definitely the honorable route to go. The way I said though is definitely more fun.
