    Matchmaking in Bunker

I'm rank 2 in the Scorched Season as of writing and haven't had an issue besides this. I was just set to compete against the player ranked 4th on the Legends leaderboard. Is this common? I'm not bad at the game but I know this guy/girl is light years ahead of me because I've never gotten into the Legends leaderboard. I thought it paired you with close to equal ranks. That being said, I'm gonna light that MFer up.

LOL! Match algorithm is +/- 2 ranks. When you hit Rank 2 you'll start to battle some legends. And the matching system doesn't seem to care if it's legend #1 or legend #1000.
You'll battle more legends when you make it to Rank 1.

Many legends will give you the win if you aren't also legend.

Given the opportunity, I always offer the easy win to non-legends by faulting heavily on 2 tracks and taking the 3rd track..all I'm looking for is a few chips. If my opponent gets greedy and fights for the 3rd track, I prefer to smack them down when possible

Hey mathatter911, it’ a good, high rank on the leaderboards. The odd thing is that sometimes the Bunker might pit you against an opponent that is slightly higher than yours. In your case, since you were at rank 2, and your opponent on the Legends LB was at rank 1, your chances of being matched in the Bunker were already pretty high. I hope you defeat him and get to the Legends LB yourself! Go for it!

Yup, exactly what Sardius said. As far as the game knows, Legend is Legend (or Rank 0 if you will) and the Legend Rank doesn't matter.

Crazy that I actually matched with you now. I didn't realize it until after I ran all three tracks or I would have only ran two. Definitely tough to get into the Legends.

BAHAHA!! Crazy random happenstance to get paired with you right after our posts. Given what I mentioned, it was extra funny when you "stole" the 3rd track. For a second there I considered a GT flurry Nice to see you've moved up to rank 1. I got lucky and went from #12 to Legend in one day (I got some help from a few legends when I got to rank 2).

Then it must be huge "+" and huge "-" becouse i just got 1 rank guy when im rank 5 atm.

So mathatter911, maybe u are lucky if u had to race vs legend first time as rank 2, probably it can happends even when u are rank 4.

If your opponent is on a win streak they can quickly jump a couple of ranks after you match with them (but before you duel them). Particularly with 6 showdowns at a time...consecutive wins would give them up to 10 extra stars after they match with you, enough to push them ahead an additional 2 ranks. By the same token, you could also drop 2 ranks via the same method.

    Consider this scenario:
    Player 1 (P1) is Rank 5 [1 stars]
    Player 2 (P2) is Rank 3 [2 stars]
Both players are finishing 6 showdowns (against other players). P1 lost all 6, P2 won all 6.
Both players claim results on the 1st showdown. P1 is now Rank 5 [0 stars]. P2 is Rank 3 [4 stars]
Both players choose to start a new showdown before claiming the remaining 5 showdown results
P1/P2 get matched in a showdown. Ok since +/- 2 ranks.
Both players claim results of the remaining 5 showdowns. P1 is now Rank 7 [3 stars], P2 is Rank 1 [4 stars]
So now you've got a Rank 7 vs. Rank 1, still within the +/- 2 rule

This could be exaggerated even more if P2 had started more than 6 showdowns. And since there are fewer stars at higher ranks you could end up with a much larger separation at, say, Rank 15.

That said, I encountered three Rank 3's last evening. Possible, but statistically unlikely. There seem to be fewer opponents available in bunker lately, it seems to take a long time to get matched. So perhaps RL's +/- 2 rule is relaxed a bit when no better matches are available.

Or it counts higher rank u reached in season.. Now im remembering i was in rank 3 for a while so i would be proper to "+/- 2 ranks" system.

Maybe, who knows, aside from this, it also could be just some bug. Bugs happends in TF.. ;p
    *it would be proper
