I have found that the community on PC is decreasing so I did my own little "research" on the fact and found that it boils down to a few main problems. To my surprise, I found that it wasnt any characters or the extremely fast abilities of some(PK, Warden, Orochi) but instead it was first of all: The revenge meta. This has proven to be a huge problem in the 4v4 gamemodes right now. The increased damage is far too strong, taking off 3 bars of hp from any who doesnt have a defensive build and getting this buff from 3 blocked attacks TOPS is far too easy.
This binds together nicely with the next problem which is: Poor team balancing and huge difference in item levels. New players or even 'older' players have shown to have a problem with this. It makes for a very uneven match up making new players not even want to invest time in the game since they cant catch up and older players are stuck with the same character unable to switch because they will get stomped by opponents, not from skill but from sheer damage from the buffs that others have
The third and last reason that I found was: A toxic player base. I have found alot of great people in this game but I can also agree on the fact that the amount of toxic players have increased and is really killing the game. Either they leave the games or bully newer players out of it, making them once again: Not wanting to invest time into the game or suggest it to their friends.
To finish this off I just want to say that I agree with all of these things and would love to discuss fixes to this and see if anyone agrees or disagreesand what their oppinion is.
I main orochi with 108 revenge gear.
Honestly I love that revenge when folks gang up on me because it discourages the ganking behavior or it punishes my opponent for trying to gank.
Where I do find revenge way too powerful and annoying is when it pops up over and over again virtually back-to-back. An adjustment has to be made some way or another to fix that and an adjustment to tone down the power and generation of the revenge just a little bit (somewhere in the 1/4 to 1/3 range) wouldn't be bad either.
That all being said, here are some very common mistakes folks are making when I pop my revenge:
1. They stay in and keep attacking me even though my heavy attacks can't be interrupted (they are getting hit by heavies over and over again which blows my mind because in no other situation can I throw heavies that freely)
2. They panic and start throwing heavies which are easy to parry and it gets them knocked down
3. They don't back out or use controlling moves.
When fighting against a good team of 2, my revenge can pretty much be negated or controlled.
Yes. Revenge is way too easy to get and makes you too powerful. Also the equipment is a game ruiner. Revenge should not be possible to get if you are not in beng ganged up on.
Also, either fix the absurdly unbalanced equipment stat system or give us the option to play 4v4 modes with no gear stats. This is coming from someone who has legendary equipment on multiple characters.
The revenge mode is really ruining the game right now. You can't even start a new character and enjoy it because when you're in 4v4 modes everyone has legendery equipment so you get killed very quickly. The game was fun but it became a game where only the best geared player are favorised. I don't find it satisfying to have 2-3 times my revenge mode if I have 108 gear level neither. You need to down the same person 3 times in a row just because revenge is always generated even if the other player didn't block because he has full revenge gain by injury...Please the equipment is a game ruiner. People that aren't good are still winning fights due to the revenge mode that is really too powerfull.
Yeah I reeeeeeeeallly wished I could have recorded it but I just fought a berserker in dominion we were isolated and I was destroying him. Parrying every single predictable thing he did guard break, heavy repeat. But somehow while I was in the middle of absolutely without a doubt outplaying him he gets revenge...? 1v1!!
I still ended up beating him but that is definitely a terrible game mechanic for it to give you a huge fight changing buff in a >>1v1<< fight especially when you were absolutely losing the fight and would have already lost without said buff.....
I am, have been, and always will be an advocate of protesting that revenge should never trigger when fighting 1v1...
