Parry and deflect Comments
I would like to start off with saying I love parry in this game but there are some things that need to be addressed.
1. If an opponent feints their parry attempt, my attack should strike through.
Too many people are attempting to parry lights at the moment and they should be punished if I throw a heavy (and they try to parry like it is a light) and they should be punished if they feint their parry. Parrying a light attack should hold some risk!
Furthermore, a parry is supposed ward off your opponent's blade by steering it a different direction or deflecting it away from the target. It is a move that requires a bit of power to overpower or steer away the incoming attack. A feint (canceled attack) is pulling back your blade in a faked attack. A feint should have little to no power behind it meaning it should not have enough force to pull off a successful parry. I am very annoyed that when I bait out a parry attempt, the person automatically feints their attempted parry. It almost makes me feinting attacks pointless if I am attempting to bait out a parry...
2. A parry should be more like it is in fencing where it is a parry into riposte. A parry into guard break should not exist because a parry doesn't generally stagger an opponent that much.
3. A deflect on the other hand does stagger and opponent (because their momentum puts them off balance) so it should be more like a parry is currently. Right now the deflect is too difficult to pull off for the reward you get IMO.
Feel free to comment on any of the 3 topics. I would love to see the feedback. Please avoid blanketing all 3. If you don't like any of the 3 please explain on each item.
