Agreed. Would make the CQC takedowns more believable. The stuff you do to a bad guy in hand-to-hand probably wouldn't be lethal, probably wouldn't be a guaranteed knock out. Punch someone, throw them to the ground, and they won't make a noise or fight back? At least throw in some blood chokes, neck breaks, or head stomps if knives aren't involved.

    It is either because:

    1. system game resources, as postwick3 says. Why waste time on knife mechanics when you can use processor capacity to, say, render larger environments? It comes down to choice. I would rather have something else instead of glitchy knife kills that favor high reaction time arcade games.
    OR
    2. the same reason you can't insta-throw a grenade. It would make it a halo/COD wanna be and cheapen the game's strategy of trying to introduce a nuance of reality in a game format.

Besides, the most lethal weapons in conventional combat are almost entirely from mortars, artillery, heavy machine guns.... and long guns. Statistically pistols as an offensive weapon of war are almost insignificant, and that is to say nothing of how rare a "knife kill" must be.

Of course this game suggests SPEC OPS and those statistics may be different... but I suspect the statistics are NOT much different for small operations. There are probably still very few pistol and knife kills.

One thing is for sure... if HOLLYWOOD and GAMES depict a lot of knife kills you can BET that REALITY IS DIFFERENT. That alone convinces me that knives are a non-factor.
Can't remember if it was 'Kill Bin Laden' or 'The Mission, The Men, and Me', but both books talk about operations involving Delta Force in Afghanistan. There were a few occasions where the operators relied on the hand-to-hand to quietly subdue potential combatants, or even confirmed combatants, while securing buildings in night raids. Both books reference the hours of combatives training and capabilities these guys have put in and developed. More often than not, these takedowns will happen before anyone decides it is a firefight, but it does happen.

The reason is GRW does not believe in the 1 stab instant kill mechanic made popular in trigger happy shooters like CoD or Battlefield.

What is the point of having so many customizable weapons when the player can perform speedruns with just a knife?

Well, there should still be an animation, take time to drop someone like the current hand-to-hand. But the current close quarters takedowns do not seem like they would put someone down.

I think it's just a waste of time and resources. Motion capture, programming, 3D modelling, texturing...
They can use that time to improve upon other features and adding more variety to PvP modes, instead of a 4v4.

The current stealth take-downs are sufficient but need some work. Can't do a take-down on an enemy sitting in a chair.

Just don't expect CQC moves from MGS V.

Then again, that open world is much smaller than GRW and it doesn't have coop play.

The Rainbow Six Siege/Counter Strike in Drag isn't enough for you? Ghost Recon's appeal had usually been the campaign.

I would pay for a CQC takedown DLC pack. Give us 12 different motion captured animations, 4 knife, 4 hand to hand, and 4 tomahawk. I'd definitely drop $10.00 on that as long as it's well done.
    I'd pay for that!!!

I also like the idea to have some kind of knife and tomahawk take-downs in the game. I use the stealth option quite often and using the CQC take-down is my favorite way to eliminate tangos silently. But I think that this feature won't make it into the game because it is too complex to implement and does not add any game changing feature. But let us hope. :-)
