Hopefully you can see my screenshot link.
I can't shoot through leaves, or even the physics mesh near them. The screenshot shows a clear view of the tango, and the bullets kept shattering on the invisible physics mesh. It happens a lot in my line of work.
I was hoping this would be updated in 1.04, but it doesn't appear to be on the list.
Physics mesh on leaves and smaller branches should be turned off. There's way too much bush to make it a thing, and surely a sniper rifle bullet can penetrate leaves.

Please bump if you think we should shoot through leaves, it would really help with sniping gameplay.
I can confirm this has happened FAR too often, also happens with chain link fences. Though it might also have to do with the fact that bullets lurch through the air at about half the speed they should... maybe all rounds in Bolivia are loaded with half the amount of powder they should be?Originally Posted by SuperHugger Go to original post
Happened to me last night with a bit of barbed wire. Aimed specifically in the open spot of the wire but my bullet just plunked off it, alerted the Unidad guy, and had the entire base looking for me a few seconds later. Had to redo the mission cause it was just too many of them to get into the prison and find that rebel lieutenant.Originally Posted by ChiConspiracy Go to original post
Shooting through leaves is an issue that should be addressed.
Shooting through barb wire and chain link fences? Maybe not as much. You could argue that the round hit the links on the fence and that would absolutely have an impact on the trajectory of the round. It's a weak argument (because it's more likely that the round would simply pass through the openings on the fence) but still one that could be made.
But back the the OPs point, the physics mesh on the leaves could use some cleaning up.
EDIT: So I found where in the screenshot the OP was taking the shots and went Live on YT to try to reenact. Pretty sure I found the exact guy he was shooting at with the same bushes and was able to shoot through them to nail targets. Unfortunately, I didn't check to make sure I had my suppressor on and stirred the hornets nest. But, hey, gave me more targets to work with.
During the entire video I shot through bushes and outer tree branches alike. The only things that stopped my rounds were rocks, buildings and a metal sign.
Now, I am NOT saying this isn't an issue for some folks, but maybe to help reenact, if folks could post the following so the devs CAN try to reproduce it:
- What platform are you on? PC, PS4 or XB?
- Describe the location, Province and - if possible - name of the location you are hitting (IE "Outpost west of X Charlie safehouse").
- Post screenshots not only of your scope's line of site to the target, but 3rd person views so someone can reenact your characters EXACT orientation and location.
- What weapon(s) build you are using (weapon and what mods are applied to it).
I know I am no dev, but I have been involved in game tech support on a number of occasions and know that information that helps Ubi reproduce the issue will most likely be the best way to find a resolution for those that are having the issue.
For me, in the video, I am on PC, using the HTI and Mk 17 rifles, and neither the AR or SR had any issues with leaves. I can also consistently hit targets through chain link fences as well.
So that leads me to wonder if this is a platform issue? Won;t know, though, until people can share more specific information.
I could have used a better bug reporting format for sure. I normally encourage the same process, but I felt that this is a fairly easy issue to replicate.Originally Posted by Faelandaea Go to original post

I can upload a video next time, but it's very very common on PS4. Everywhere there's a hand full of leaves dangling in front of a tango there will be 100% bullet collision and no tango hit. I agree with the other guys too, there are too many occasions barbed wire or wire fencing prevents a hit. I'd be fine with a bullet dropping twice as quickly after penetrating a fence, but every tango I'm aiming at near a fence is right behind it. Otherwise I'd shoot over the fence. Most the time the fence doesn't even appear on screen because of the draw distance settings. The problem with the fence collision is that it alerts the entire defence, then for some reason they know exactly where you are based off of the ricochet. I don't even know why they know where you are when they find a body, but that's another issue.
Most cases I have surrounding mountains, I prefer to snipe, because who's going to land a chopper within half a click of a garrison. You'd get noticed, and I prefer to maintain my own level of realism in the game for personal satisfaction, by keeping my distance where I can, then moving in full covert with the guards down.
